Sirius's love and knowledge of the Muggle world all started when he was a boy. He used to travel around Muggle London all the time, and soon grew to like the Muggles. He would observe them, and noticed that they were diverse and interesting. Some wore suits and ties, hurrying along and would look at their watches as they passed. Others looked like they came from a Rock concert, walking in a relaxed way, smoking. Overall, Muggles were civilized, well-behaved, and didn't look like the dirty, filthy animals like his parents told. They weren't too much different from wizards.
When he learned how to obtain Muggle money, he would go to the same Paper man on the corner and buy Rolling Stone Magazines and Muggle Newspapers (and the occasional Playboy). He would read and read until he could tell you who Margaret Thatcher was. Sirius's fascination piqued, and he would try to possess many Muggle books (sometimes not in the legal way.) And not too soon after, he discovered movies. He would sometimes let Regulus borrow a book or magazine, but only if he gave him a Chocolate Frog first.
Walburga eventually caught him once, and locked him in his room for a whole week.
