On Oct. 16, 1945, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was founded, built upon "its belief that the goal of freedom from want of food, suitable and adequate for the health and strength of all people can be achieved." Celebrated around the world, World Food Day honors that day and our commitment to defeating hunger. WANNA BE A PART OF THE EFFORTS? Tell Congress: Support the Green Climate Fund. Much of the food we eat every day - from corn to wheat to #AVOCADOS - is being threatened by our changing climate. And the families that help grow and produce those harvest are suffering. The WORLDS poorest people - especially farmers and food producers - pay the highest price for the consequences of climate change. During a drought, food, hurricane, they're the most vulnerable to losing lives, homes, farmers, and livelihoods. That's why the Green Climate Fund was set up - it's a way for rich countries to help poor countries prepare for climate change and cut their emissions. Plus it's a key to progress on global climate talks this year.
