Let me tell you about Jacob (short story)
One day, a pebble skitted over across the country road. The anger went through her veins like a drug as she cursed under her breathe. She walks through the door in pure force. Kicking the dirt off her shoes then looking up at me in pure resentment. Once I realized what her issue was, I froze like a deer in headlights. I had kept a secret from her for a while. Just gazing at her face as I read her every emotion made my heart sink. If my intuition was correct I know I had the risk of losing everything. Her, and everything we’d built together.
“where’ve you been?” I ask her in a confused tone
“Is there something you want to tell me or are you going to just play stupid” she said with a cold stare
she runs to the counter grabbing the mail slamming it on the table making a sound as loud as a gunshot. Honestly I was wanting to handle this situation privately so she wouldn’t be so scared and react this way. I knew it was unavoidable at this point.
“You violated your probation?! Do you realize what can happen?!”
Faint crying comes from the furthest bedroom just down the hallway.
“Thanks Rebecca I had just put him down”
I run to the crib attempting to comfort our son.
