you cannot imagine the suffering i went through waking up this morning and seeing the torn ACL news.

i’m assuming you mean honeymoon—if you meant another wip lmk 😅 if you haven’t seen it yet, i just posted ch3 of honeymoon last week (damn it felt like i posted that yesterday lol, i didn’t realize it had been a whole week).

i have an exam today and tomorrow but after that I’m going to be grinding out ch4 :) it’s been mostly written this whole time, currently 2.7k words but it def needs more work than the previous chapters did and i’m not sure how to fill in the blanks :( writing is hard. i’m a bit stuck.

but after this WE FINALLY START GETTING TO THE GOOD PART i’m so excited to share ch5 and onwards with you guys because i think it’s just so good and so much better

Honeymoon sounds spicy🍋🌶👀

ahh I didn't think about it this way LOL honeymoon is actually the furthest from spicy that I could ever get! Well, it's still rated E, but that's such a small percentage of the fic as a whole.

Slovenia honeymoon is my magnum opus. It's my baby that I first thought up back in July and have been working on tirelessly since. How many late-night 5am writing sessions make a longfic? You tell me, lol. I'm currently 28k words into the draft. Each chapter has a moodboard, and a playlist with song(s) that fit the chapter in both vibes and lyrics. The amount of research that has gone into this fic already is truly immense and I wanted everything to be as true to life as possible--the places, the restaurants, the minute details, down to the songs I nabbed from Kyrie's actual playlist, the dialogue I wrote after transcripting hours of him talking, etc. It's really a labor of the absolute love I have for Lukai and I really really envisioned it in total perfection. I really could not wait to share my vision with everyone ;-;

At the time of posting the ask game, I hadn't revealed any of it to the world--I'd planned on finishing all of it before posting, wanting to see the fic filled out as a whole before going back and editing/revising the entire thing so it could become as perfect as I had envisioned it inside my head. But due to unexpected breaking news (Luka...) my viewpoint towards this fic absolutely died. Ever since the inception of this fic, when I thought about it, when I wanted to write it, it was all pure joy, the giddy feeling of kicking my feet twirling my hair. It was truly that fic, but after the trade I've only been able to look at it with melancholy and defeat. It was supposed to be perfection. It was supposed to be pure joy and the beauty of falling in love and finally finding your home in your someone after years and years of trial and pain.

I've decided to start posting it, now; I was writing for months with the framework of "finish wholly before you post" and had been feeling stuck, so maybe the new format of "post each chapter as you finish them" will help me set more realistic/manageable goals for myself. After all, most of the chapters are ~60% written or more; there's only a couple that I haven't written. And perhaps I'll go back after it's complete and revise it all over again. But there's still so much to go. I really really hope that I can do this fic justice and share my original vision with all of you <3 because although I've been posting, I still haven't been able to actually write anything more for this fic and I don't know when I'll get that back, after everything that's happened.

I'm just hoping everyone will stick with me for this fic--I don't feel like the first couple chapters are very strong, and I'm worried that people will read them and lose interest. I want to edit them to make them better but I don't know how and they just feel so flat. But god, I just think the second half of the chapters are breathtaking in how they bring Luka and Kyrie's story to life, and I really just want to be able to share that with everyone 😭

There's so much I could say about this fic. I've lived and breathed in the framework of this fic for half a year and I'm just so excited about it, but I'll stop here--I hope you don't mind the wall of text I've already thrown at you 😅 Thank you so much for asking about it <3

I need more Lukai🙏 LuKai hot tub?

Oh! awww, this one was the one I started after Luka got injured during the Christmas game. I've actually changed the name of it now, it's called "post-injury lukai". This one was really the one I had actively been writing right now alongside all-star afterparty & honeymoon before the trade hit.

I was going to explain the premise and all, but I think the first two paragraphs of the fic articulate it quite well!

The trainers and the doctors can do their scans, assess and stabilize the injury, apply heat or cold, or give things to ease the pain, but in the end, they can only do so much, and when Luka finally comes home at the end of the day, it’s down to Kyrie to soothe the rest—the frustration, the tears, and the despair.  People forget just how much responsibility falls on the shoulders of an athlete’s significant other, an athlete’s family, when things like this happen. Rehab and recovery is a long and painful bitch of a process—Kyrie knows this better than he ever wanted to—and it’s full of tears, setback, and agony. It’s as much of a test of the mind as it is the body, and some people don’t make it through at all. 

It really started out as hurt-comfort, and it takes place over the month of Luka's recovery, but of course they do end up spending some nice time in the hot tub together ;)

We really live in bliss pretending the trade never happened 😇

Possessive Lukai is the brainworm I got at the beginning of this season, right before Klay was about to debut for the Mavericks. We were all worried/interested to see how he would fit in with Lukai's dynamic--I know a lot of us loved Lukai's dynamics as it was and didn't want that to change at all with Klay's addition--but also there was a lot of excitement to see how he would add to the lineup. We'd heard that Kyrie was the one to text Klay/convince Klay to go to Dallas, and guessed that he might be the closest to Klay? Especially since they're from the same draft year and all. And maybe Luka would be like: kyrie is mine don't touch him.

I think I actually did touch a tiny bit on this idea in my Lukai fic for the 2024-25 Season Opener, if you want to get a taste of what it might have been like! I doubt this one will ever make it out of drafts, but thank you for asking about it! <3 appreciate u

First Steph and Klay. Now Luka and Kyrie. How r u feeling?

Well, Steph and Klay were different, for me. First of all, I never shipped them, so it wasn't really the type of soulmate-bond that was broken when they took Luka away from Kyrie. Klay's history on the Warriors was longer and grander; I grew up with Klay on our team and he was my first favorite player on the Warriors, so it was a big part of my childhood and I felt like he'd be with us forever. But Klay leaving was more like a surprised acceptance. Like it had all been building up to that and at the end we all were anticipating that he might leave, and when the trade info came out, I was fine. I was sad, and there was a lot of angst, but it was okay. It was the good type of angst, that type that you want to write and want to explore. Klay wanted to leave, and he chose where he wanted to go, and although there seemed to be some bad blood between him and the Warriors FO/staff behind the scenes, everything worked out as it was supposed to. And it all made perfect sense. There were no problems.

And the real difference is that Klay chose to leave, while they took Luka away.

The Luka trade was so unexpected and so fucking cruel. I honestly feel so horrible for Luka himself and don't know how he's even coping with all of this right now. He didn't even know. His life is in Dallas. His house, his fiancée, his one-year-old daughter. His mom, his dad, his friends, his team. The people that love him. Hell, Kyrie's kids love him. At this point with the absolute injustice that they did to this man, Lukai is secondary. Luka being in Dallas was the one thing that nobody ever thought would be in question. He thought he would spend his whole career in Dallas.

To get a little personal, I found Luka and Lukai during a time in my life when I was going through something difficult and they really helped me find my own happiness, build up my mental fortitude, and find my own love for writing. They really were that one thing that meant so much to me and even though we were going through an injury slump, it was never a problem for me because I knew that soon enough they would be playing together again. It was something that I had no worry that I would be able to come back to at the end of a long day or a hard week. The idea that they would not be playing together was something that never, ever crossed my mind. Not only that but they shipped Luka away for no reason, for nothing. Literally I do not UNDERSTAND. There's no rhyme or reason to it at all and that's what's so painful and frustrating about it all--what do you mean everything that Luka has worked for and built up and poured his blood sweat and tears into is gone overnight? There's no justification and that's what makes it so horrible.

I don't even want to touch it anymore. I don't want to watch Lakers games, I don't want to watch Mavs games, I don't want to see Luka on my feed or any Mavericks posts. Only stuff from before the trade is safe 😭
