If you post pictures for yourself only why do you want share them with everyone? If the sexy pictures were truly for you, you would just save them in private, but you post them on the internet...Im just not understanding the correlation. You seem to get a lot of criticism/gross comments and it doesn't seem like its worth it.
Iām actually not trying to be sexy. Itās how people take them. Some are maybe but for me itās more of like wow I look so beautiful in this or this photo makes me feel more insecure but I want to share it anyway because I need to accept myself in all ways that I come as. But even if I want to be sexy, it is NEVER an invitation for people to make comments at me. Since I want to promote body positivity and loving yourself, that goes along with shutting down hate and disrespectful people. Thereās hopes of educating them but I know the majority wonāt learn anything. I want to show that I can speak up for myself but I also donāt let them get to me. None of the hate I get truly bothers me. Maybe for one minute, but then Iām done thinking about it. I laugh about it. It adds years to my life. Thatās why I block people. I donāt post the majority of the messages I get or comments because itās not worth it. They arenāt worth the attention or time. Most people who send hate are jealous or live sad lives. They want attention so they feel better about themselves, but at the end of the day theyāre still childish miserable people who will never be on my leave unless they learn to love themselves and focus on themselves only. And then with the sexual comments, we love in a patriarchal society and instead of staying silent to issues we need to be talking about them. Every time you tell someone what theyāre doing is wrong, the less likely theyāll do it. The more we speak up about this, the less attack people face for doing what makes them happy. I want to spread happiness and self love but also stay true to myself. Iām a blunt person and I have times where I want to be petty and put people in their place. I know the more exposure I get the more hate/gross comments I face. I know what I can handle and if it gets too much, anon will disappear or ask box will be turned off completely. I am more important than those people and this blog is about me and it always will be whether I post pictures or not. So yes, it is worth it because Iām happy and Iāve learned how to tell people ānoā and I love myself more and more everyday.
This anons argument is ridiculous. Let me give another example to show why this argument is further idiotic and sexist.Ā Why, as a photographer, does no one ever tell me Iām an attention whore? Or want compliments? How is what I do any different from her?? As a photographer, I shoot stuff for myself. Literally the work I create is entirely for me because I WANT TO create it. It doesnāt need to be validated by anyone else because I just enjoy doing it. I stopped truly worrying about āwhat was marketableā or āpopularā long ago and just started shooting what I made me happy and satisfied. But SHARING my work is a strong component too. While itās not necessary for me to do so, because Iām not looking for critiques, it seems a little odd for me to make work that I never intend to share. In fact, if all I ever did is shoot and keep the photos to myself, people might see that as a bit strange, or odd, or even downright creepy. I share as an EXPRESSION of myself. To share what my values and beliefs are. Think of sharing my work as āgivingā. I have a desire to give to people. I can give without the necessity of receiving (receiving being feedback, comments, likes, re-blogs etc). In fact I generally ignore those aspects of sharing my work. I only skim comments to see if itās something directed at me dealing with potentially working with me.Ā I do this because I WANT to. I would continue to shoot and share my work even if no one ever responded or gave me any feedback on it.Ā So, once again. How is what she does (taking selfies and expressing herself on her blog with said photos and gifs) any different than what I do? And why is she told to keep them to herself if she TRULY only took those pictures for herself??
