I wanted to start skating, but my town is pretty rough for things like that and nobody else skates. Would it be a waste of time?

Nah, skating is sick. It's a great way to spend time.

Is skating hard?

Depends, sure it can be difficult but as you get used to it the fact that it may be hard kinda gets nullified by the fact that you enjoy it so much.
