Or, more evil idea (and adding another soma parallel/reference) the abstractions cant be restored, so Caine backs up and copies a version of Jax and all of the other abstractions before they abstracted. Now there's the horror of cloned jax and the others seeing what became of them all in the aquarium, knowing their "second chance at life" was not given to their counterparts. The backup clones of already digital clones are the ones that won the immortal "coin flip" that SOMA's story talks about when duplicating a mind and leaving another mind behind (only a few ppl in tadc have played or watched a playthrough of soma. Maybe this reference doesn't make sense)

I think it uploaded. Anyway ramble headcanon time under cut.

I like to think the Wraiths and Silkflies of the Mist are "conducted" by Phantom and their organ, similar to how Lace was able to conduct the Silkflies and control them with her humming. Anyway, Phantom basically sends the wraiths to scavenge silk for them so that they can re-weave themself. "Scavenging" can be anything from finding dregs of the Citadel or even killing haunted bugs to retrieve their silk. When the wraiths have served their purpose or are weakening, Phantom binds them.

I also have seen a few designs of Lace and/or Phantom with metal gold parts (like GMS or cogwork bugs) floating around and that's just insanely cool to me. I get they're canonically made entirely of silk but I like to think that their skeletons are essentially just gold, wires, cords and maybe Lace's mask is a chipped piece of GMS' shell so that GMS can re-weave her from a distance. As for Phantom, falling apart and decaying has caused their more robotic internals to start showing. They are not doing well :(

Oh yeah. Phantom sings to the Wraiths, writes their own music and maybe even stories for plays/musicals that GMS and the Conductors would never approve of. I like to imagine that they maybe met Trobbio at one point and decided to be dramatic together. Trobbio's got explosions, Phantom has steam and mist to disorient intruders.

Basically she's a robot who combined herself with a fluid anomaly thing so that she's better at killing space monsters. She also has a cool laser sword thing that I made some decent art of but its in my sketchbook and there's errors when uploading the image and I honestly don't care enough. Idk why I can never get any of my art to upload I'm still figuring this site out
