coming back from the dead (again) takes some adjusting

birds are chirping in the tree outside the window. cas doesnt think he’ll be able to sleep but he listens to dean’s breathing anyway. listens to the turn of the page, the texture of dean’s blanket. pay attention, cas thinks to himself. this might be real. and if it’s not you have to commit it to memory for when you’re alone again. for when there’s nothing but silence and space in the empty. you have to remember the weight of dean on the mattress next to you, you have to remember the warmth of the sun – and then… he snores when he falls asleep. gets pillow creases on his cheek. drools. dean reads the same page of his book 4 times. and watches the rise and fall of cas’ breathing. you have to commit this to memory, dean thinks to himself. just in case

i just think a whole season arc should have been dean and cas reckoning with the fact they never hug aside from life n death situations. also cas learning about human emotions and trauma from baby books
