I've been thinking about Dragon Age a lot again... So obviously I had to make myself sad ; v ;

Remember long ago when I drew my spartan from Reach? I did it again. Turns out I like revisiting old characters a lot... and apparently making their hair shorter and shorter (oops.)

Finally finished coloring my jet-lagged doodle from my first day in Ireland...! Kara would definitely be Irish or Irish-American if she was an actual person...

Goodness though, that doodle was distressing--I had just started adding base color when I realized I had thought someone else was drawing the whole time. I went to bed. For 14 hours. I'm not joking. (Though, to be fair,  I did stay up 30, so....)

If anyone is curious, I talk to myself a lot while I draw, especially digital work. Often it sounds a bit like, "Bother. Bother. Bother."

Decided to go back in and add a bit more color. So really an update?

As much as it sometimes makes me feel really full of myself, I really like going back through my old work from time to time and just seeing where I've come from. I think this is super important for anyone to do--whether you're an artist, trained or not, a writer, a performer, anything--and don't feel ashamed about looking back. Sometimes, there's lessons hidden in your old work, but usually it's just the best feeling in the world to sit there and say to yourself, "look how far I've come."

I really like the Warden armor from Dragon Age. I decided to stick an OC of mine from something else completely in it, although I guess she qualifies since I've made her in both DA:O and DA2 now???

Practice sketch of Zevran for today... Tried a few new techniques, and I think I'm pretty happy with it! Now to just keep working!

A work in progress that I want to shade. Sadly, this shading concept wasn’t working for me tonight, so I’m walking away for now. The text may or may not stay in the final piece… what do we think?

Recently I worked on a piece for my awesome friend Mandie. This is the companion panel to a piece I did ages ago in the summer. Step by step progress.

I'm on a Photoshop D&D spree... Under-sketch for Pierre-Luc coming right up!

As a side note-- For the longest time sketching out an image used to be a lengthy and multi-step process, and that was before I began even "inking". Recently, I have found it easier to draw out the shape of the face, expression, and muscle structure rather than add it to a "skeletal" base... I can only hope this means good things! Plus I really enjoy the practice it gives me with the musculature itself... I think those life drawing sessions really left a mark >___> So basically, muscles now, clothes later. Yep.

I decided to hop back into Photoshop and try to figure out digital painting again. I think someday I will get this depth and brush texture thing down. Maybe not today, for me this is progress.

(Sidenote: Oh cropping... And can I sleep now? I think I will...)

Painting in photoshop has gotten surprisingly fun!

Or Wolfie begins to play with character designs some more. Because you can never play with character designs too much. It is just too much fun.

I just changed the blade on my xacto knife...

Two swipes and that bristol board was the cleanest cut thing I've ever seen.

Couple this new blade with the epic music I'm listening to and I feel like I can take on worlds.

He has a fun nose.
