A simple arm-rod puppet made from fur fabric and ping-pong balls. My aim was to make a puppet character in the style of Jim Henson (Sesame Street/The Muppets), and I wanted to use the opportunity to experiment with working with different materials (I hadn’t worked with fur fabric before).

The mouth is two pieces of heavy-duty card, with a couple pieces of felt fabric glued on to make the mouth & tongue. The eyes are made with ping-pong balls with cut pieces of adhesive black velvet fabric for the pupils. The hands use twisted armature wire to make the fingers, which can be bent into different poses. The arm rods are made from twisted coat hanger wire wrapped in gaffer tape, though I may switch to a different material for arm-rods for future puppets.
I’ve been meaning to get more into puppet making, and I hope to make more characters to accompany this guy.
