Stydia after getting out of Eichen House + the sleepover & cuddling i desperately want to see
One shot. After Eichen, they go to Deaton’s clinic (it’s in one of the trailers), Then they go to Stiles’ house, but Lydia has trouble sleeping…
It was 1 AM. They were at Deaton’s clinic after they’ve finally got out of Eichen House. Scott and Dr. Deaton were talking worriedly about supernatural stuff. Stiles didn’t listen, he didn’t care anymore. He was too focused on Lydia, who sat on a bench in the corner of the room, after she jumped out of the bad while begging them not to touch her. Deaton was trying to examine her, but she wouldn’t stop screaming.
Now she was gasping slowly and staring at the floor, her messy red hair is hiding her eyes and face, and her hands are gripping the bench next to her knees, shaking a bit. She looked so vulnerable and helpless - Stiles felt a strong and undefined ache rushing through his body just by watching her. It made him feel helpless himself, like he has to do something. He came closer to her slowly, and quietly sat next to her on the bench, but tried to keep a distance. She didn’t flinch.
All he wanted was to hug her for an hour at least, but he assumed she still doesn’t want to be touched. All that’s left is to talk, he thought, but what can you say? What can you say to a girl who’s been through such horror?
Eventually Stiles understood that maybe all that was left to do is just sit next to her, make sure she knows she’s not alone.
Scott and Deaton kept talking, and their conversation got louder. “Her scream could’ve killed her and everyone around her…” Stiles could’ve sworn he saw Lydia’s hands shaking a bit more now “you were lucky this time but if she won’t learn how to control her powers… she can put all of us in great dange…”.
“Hey guys” Stiles said irritably “why won’t you take this conversation outside?”.
They both looked over to the bench surprisingly, as if they completely forgot that Lydia was sitting there the whole time. She was so quiet. Scott and Deaton nodded and stepped outside.
The room was finally silent. But Lydia still sat in the same position, quietly shaking and doesn’t show any signs of communication with the outside world. Stiles kept sitting next to her, waiting. He had no idea how much time has passed before Lydia finally raised her head. She still didn’t look at Stiles, only vacantly stared forward, than slowly turned to him and put her hand in his hand. He squeezed it gently. She looked him in the eyes now.
“Thank you” she said in a trembling voice. She started leaning her head against his shoulder and chest, but she still looked him in the eyes, and maybe Stiles imagined, but she also glanced at his lips “I don’t know what I would’ve done without you”. He let himself glance at her lips too, and then he was mad at himself, because it wasn’t the time. But he couldn’t help it anyway.
Now when she was willing to be touched, he got closer; warped his hand around her shoulder and put the other one on her chick, wiping a tear away. He hugged her tightly “I’m so sorry” he said, his voice came out cracked and broken “I’m so sorry I didn’t get you out of there earlier, I’m so sorry you had to go through this”.
“Stop, Stiles, don’t do this now, it’s useless and it doesn’t matter, you saved my life”.
He didn’t argue, but since they’ve got here he was beating himself up in his mind because he had suspicions, he knew this place was off, he knew bad thing are happening there, and he didn’t do anything. He should’ve made a plan earlier; he should’ve got her out of that place before they could drill a freaking hole into her head.
“I don’t know what to do, I don’t know where to go” she talked into his chest and he felt her heavy breaths on his neck, her lips almost touching it. “I can’t go back to my mother” she raised her head, but they were still holding hands. “She put me in there, and she knew, she knew this place is questionable, she just wanted to shut the whole thing up, doesn’t want people to know her lovely daughter gone completely insane”.
“You’re not insane” Stiles said immediately “and you can come to my house until we figure things out, okay?” he added in a soft voice. She nodded thankfully, with a small, sad grin. But god, He was so happy to see a grin. He got up, still holding her hand “come on” he said “let’s go home”. She got up slowly; he had to support her because her body was still very weak. He let her warp her hand around his neck and lean on him. When they’ve walked outside he gave a nod in Deaton and Scott’s direction, opened the door of his car and carried her in.
Stiles’ house was dark but there was a light in the kitchen. His father was still waiting for him to come, and he got up quickly from his chair when he saw Lydia “Is everything okay?”.
So many things weren’t okay. “Yes” Stiles answered “Lydia will stay here for the night”.
“Sure, sure, of course” he looked kind of lost, not knowing what to say to the sight of Lydia, red eyed and trembling in Stiles’ hands “do you need anything? Maybe something to eat?”
Lydia shook her head quickly but then grabbed it, with a grimace on her face “No no, I think is just need a good night sleep”.
Stiles helped her going up the stairs slowly, and turned on the light in the guest room. He gave her one of his old grey sweatshirts, which rested loosely on her body. She lay down on the bed, exhausted. “If you need ANYTHING” Stiles said “just come to my room okay? Whatever it is, promise me you’ll come to my room”.
“Yeah, yeah, Stiles, it’s fine; I’m fine” she said out of focus “you can go to sleep”.
“Alright” he said hesitantly, he didn’t like the idea of leaving her alone “good night”.
“Good night” she mumbled.
He turned off the light but left the door open. He didn’t go to sleep yet; he was really tired, but he couldn’t sleep. He came back to his father, and told him everything. He couldn’t take it anymore, he just fell apart. It was too much. She almost died. He was on the verge of a panic attack, because it hit him now. When it was all over and he had time to think, he started comprehending, processing what has happened. And it was terrible, everything was terrible. “She’s alive, son, that’s the important thing, and she’s alive because of you. And it’s over, it’s done, she’s safe now”. Stiles wished his father is right, but he didn’t really believe that it ends here. “Go to sleep, son” his father gave him a pat on the back “tomorrow’s a new day”.
Stiles went up the stairs to his room, but right after he passed the guest room door, that’s when he heard her screaming, he heard her crying.
He burst into her room, turning the light on. She was sleeping and having a nightmare, a terrible nightmare. And who if not Stiles knows what it feels like.
He jumped into her bed and held her wriggling body. “Lydia! Lydia! Wake up! Come on! Lydia!” he pleaded into her ear “wake up!”
She finally opened her eyes, she sat down, confused, and Stiles was holding her from behind.
“Lydia” he whispered, she was shaking in his hands, sweating and gasping “hey, Lydia, look at me” he turned her head to his direction and looked into her frightened eyes. “It was just a dream” he said softly “you’re safe. You’re in my house, and you’re safe”.
She let her head fall into his chest “I can’t even close my eyes anymore”.
And then she started crying, quietly, somehow calmly, but crying. She didn’t truly cry since they got her out.
He hugged her tightly and they both fell into to mattress together. He just wanted to help her; he just wanted to take her pain away. If he could, he would go through all this pain just so she wouldn’t have to.
But she did, she did suffer and she was in great pain and there was nothing he could do but stay with her - forever, if needed.
And they fell asleep that way, cuddling, with his shirt wet from her tears.
And she didn’t have any more nightmares that night.
