TADMEAN.
coco smiles at sie the way a celebrity smiles at a camera. granted, it’s easy to be less, in his presence; and the mask helps, even if he’s likely cooking alive underneath it. whatever the reason, coco doesn’t feel the usual weight of an audience, the weight that typically drives her into her fits or moods, pushes her into impressive displays. it’s as strange a feeling as it is a liberating one. ‘even when it’s offered?’ she’s half teasing, but curious, too. most people jump at the chance to use her for her shiny platinum cards. coco likes to call it the friendship tax. listen to me chatter, and i’ll buy you dinner, or…something.
she flicks up her eyebrows, mildly surprised. ‘you tailor?’ not that she’s judging. just a little startling, is all. ‘i make my own clothes too,’ coco says belatedly, realization coming over her, and though she doesn’t smile, her mood lightens significantly. she thinks about mentioning that she could easily fix it herself, but coco realizes how vapid that must look (i’d rather spend money than save it), so she doesn’t.
instead, she merely shrugs and says, ‘sure. but you sure you would do that? you don’t owe me shit, y’know.’
‘ even when it’s offered, yes. ’ behind white bones does scarred lips tug into a smile in return to hers, even if it’s never to be seen -- at the very least, she can hear it in his voice. a lighthearted tone from a grotesque face && frightening appearance. souvenirs for the children of the village would be nice, perhaps... but surely, they’d rather not have the giant of the valley get too close. he’s worried he’ll give them nightmares. ‘ i hope you don’t offense to that - i’m flattered you offered. ‘
‘ i had to learn to, as i quickly outgrew any clothes i was given. ‘ living far from the village was also a factor; trips to his home became less && less desirable as the years passed, only showing himself when needed. ‘ ...you do? ‘ he wonders silently why her first thought was to replace it rather than sew it up, but he chooses not to -- it’d be rude, wouldn’t it? && he’d hate to come off as such, especially when he means not to.
‘ i don’t mind. ..i don’t think i’d have to owe you anything to do it. ‘
