enid took a step forward, instinctively wanting to help the other person, who seemed as confused as enid often felt. the truth was, she still wasn’t sure how it all worked. but she could at least tell this stranger what he was doing wrong, “sorry to interrupt – it’s the wrong kind of money.” she explained.
ryuji looked in the direction of the woman who suddenly spoke with wide eyes. ❝ whadd’ya mean it’s the wrong kinda money?! --- it’s the only kinda money i got! ❞ his voice was still incredibly LOUD, like it was instinct to raise his voice in the face of something he didn’t understand, and he huffed. perhaps a little too childishly.
wally over heard the kid as he frowned, when he came to this town he had no money so it pained him. wally pouted as he quickly walked over to the cashier paying for the teen’s meal. grabbing the meal wally jogged over to the kid, “ hey man wait up. ” wally called out, putting the fast food bag out in front of him, “ and dude payin’ in yen really? why not get that money changed over? ”
ryuji stormed out of the building, his feet carrying him with PURPOSE to the next block over, when he heard the voice that stopped him. he spun, his gaze met with another male --- he was a little surprised to see that the man was holding a bag of food out to him like an offer. his movements were sheepish as the realization dawned on the blonde that he paid for him despite his crude actions ; he grabbed the bag and peered inside. it was everything he ordered, and he simply looked up with disbelief --- though he was also slightly confused. ❝ what’re you talkin’ about, getting it changed over? ❞
light from his phone reflected off his glasses, he started texting ryuji. after each message there was no reply, unusual for his friend. with a annoyed sigh, akira continued to explore wherever he was. it was fairly quiet and calm but that was quickly interrupted by a loud racket near him. the frizzy haired boy recognising the voice, looked through the shop’s window. of course it was him.
“i’ve got it!” akira walked over to the counter putting a few dollars down. he looked over to his friend, giving the signature smile.
ryuji was mere seconds away from turning on his heel, ready to trudge his way to the NEXT fast-food place that came into vision, when a familiar --- and all too welcomed --- voice broke through the silence that his ruckus had caused. in both shock and disbelief, the blonde’s eyes widened as akira stepped forward and slid a couple of dollars across the counter. ❝ akira, buddy! ❞ all the anger in his tone quickly diminished, as it often had with akira’s voice of reason to calm him, and his lips spread into perhaps the widest smile anyone’s ever seen. ❝ man, i can’t believe you’re here! ❞ the cashier behind the counter quickly forgotten, he turned to his friend, shrugging his shoulders. ❝ guess i should’ve figured --- we’re kinda like a package deal, yanno? ❞
hands shoved into the tiny pockets of his plaid shujin pants, ryuji formed a fist around all of the yen he could find --- one pocket, and then the other, trying to make sense of the fact that he had so LITTLE of it to begin with and now it seemed as though he had even less. being in this strange, strange place .... well, he wanted food to hold himself over .... but all of the shops he went to thus far didn’t accept yen as currency and sent the blonde packin’ to try the next burger joint down the street. this was his fifth attempt, and when he slammed the coins down onto the counter, ready to pay for the simple to-go meal, they DECLINED him. again. ❝ are you KIDDING me?! ❞ he took a step back, his voice naturally raising to a shout as he greedily grabbed what he offered and pushed it back where it came from. ❝ what the EFF is up with this place?! it’s like --- it’s like you don’t want my money or somethin’! ❞ gaining a confused stare from the cashier, ryuji just shook his head. ❝ you know what?! whatever, man. i’m leavin’! ❞
"and you know at least why everything is so different?” she asked in a concern voice, her expression was pure confusion “everything is different, the outfits, the place, all of it”
ryuji pondered the question for a moment, before he ultimately would up shaking his head. ❝ nah, i don’t really know why i’m here either. ❞ the only thing he really knew was that he was in shibuya one night, and here the next morning --- in a place that didn’t look all that different, in theory, but definitely wasn’t japan.
Addy turned her head to look at the bat laying on her shoulder before looking back at the man. She had almost forgotten about it, it was such a normal thing to her, to have it laying on her shoulder, ready to kill zombies. But now, she guessed she didn’t need it here, but she would still prefer to carry it around, just in case. “It’s called the Z-Whacker, named it myself. It’s for the zombies, don’t worry.”
ryuji didn’t know what to focus on more --- the spikes that littered the weapon and the fact that one hit with that thing would knock him cold, or the fact that she mentioned ZOMBIES. he knew of personas, but zombies were things that he’d only seen in video games. ❝ wait. so you’re tellin’ me zombies are real?! ❞ he wanted to laugh, then ; even though he knew it probably wasn’t funny at all. ❝ shit --- are they really as scary in person as they are in the movies? ❞
“for the last time i’m not a wi–” but she never finished her sentence when she realized that she wasn’t with the others. now for the first time in a long time she was VERY lost “excuse me, do you know exactly where we are and why everything is so different??”
ryuji was attempting to explore the town in which he mysteriously showed up in when he came across another equally confused stranger, perhaps a bit too glad that he wasn’t the only one who was completely LOST. ❝ oh, i wouldn’t be able to tell ya! i don’t know where the hell i am either. ❞
“Someone wanna tell me what’s cooking?” the last she recalled she was killed by Crowley and sent straight to the demon wasteland but this..she wasn’t even sure where here was; the question of being corporeal again could wait. “Don’t look at me like that, my noodles are in order…I just ain’t sure about this fun house.”
confusion tugged at ryuji’s brows, unsure if he could understand what the girl was SAYING --- it was hard enough to form a response when half the words seemed like gibberish. ❝ what’re you talkin’ about, man? there’s no --- ❞ his nose scrunched slightly, ❝ --- where are you getting noodles?! ❞
Addy walked through the streets of Magnolia, still trying to wrap her head around how the hell was it possible for her to be here. Not only was this a whole new world, without zombies trying to eat your face, but she was almost sure she was supposed to be dead. Or badly wounded. After all, she had jumped off that cliff with The Man, to save Lucy. Could it be possible for her friends to also be here? 10k, Doc, Warren … she hoped so. Or at least she hoped they were safe. Letting her loyal Z-Whacker laying on her shoulder, she stopped and looked around. “You know … when you live almost seven years in the zombie apocalypse, you kind of forget what it feels like to live in a normal world.”
with an overexaggerated shriek of something equal parts terror and astonishment, ryuji stumbled backwards on his feet at the sight of .... whatever the hell that was on the woman’s shoulder. it was bad enough that she was talking about a zombie apocalypse as if they were real ( although he guessed he couldn’t blame her, the phantom thieves weren’t considered real either but he was definitely apart of that ), seeing an actual killing machine on her shoulder so delicately was a shock. ❝ what the HELL is that?! ❞
hey yo hey yo! it’s kai again, back at it with another soft(tm) egotistical blondie to torment the dash. also known as ryuji sakamoto from persona 5! since he’s significantly lesser known than jace ( and since you also have to sell your soul and all amounts of free time in order to get any sort of progress in this game ), i figured i ought to whip up a few bullet points before interacting in case anyone was curious about who tf is. i’ll also be using nakamoto yuta as his faceclaim and we’ll just pretend he’s blonde, because finding blonde japanese faceclaims that fit ryuji is tough af. but i digress!
in game, ryuji is sixteen .... but i bumped him up to eighteen for obvious reasons. he lived in tokyo, japan in a tiny lil town called shibuya and attended shujin academy with all of his pals.
he was on the track team in his freshman year, but then they got a replacement coach named kamoshida who’s a real big DICKWAD. kamoshida put a lot of pressure on the track team, as he did regularly with his volleyball team, and all of that pressure and stress and overexertion caused ryuji to break his fucking leg.
yeah, that’s right. his own damn coach broke his fucking leg.
he wanted to get a track scholarship because when he was younger, his dad was a drunkard and abused him and his mom before he left the family and caused his mom to have to raise ryuji on her own. he wanted to make things easier for her, like the sweet muffin he is.
but, yanno, broken leg. that didn’t happen.
he had to quit the track team and disappointed every single one of his teammates, because upon his quitting, shujin academy just stopped funding the team altogether.
thus he became an outcast! he started being a bit of a troublemaker and that was his reputation around school, other than being the guy who ruined the track team for everybody.
then akira kurusu entered his life as the transfer student with a criminal record and everything changed.
while trying to get to school one day, they accidentally activated the weird app on akira’s phone and found themselves in a very strange, very creepy place where the school usually was --- they were captured and almost killed by “kamoshida” and they didn’t know what the fuck was going on.
later they learned ( through a talking cat named morgana who is definitely not a cat ) that they entered a palace, aka a person’s very distorted desires. that palace is littered with shadows and their job inside is to steal the treasure and force the real world owner to have a change of heart. and then the distorted desires stop.
in the midst of all that, they gained personas --- akira can have multiple personas but ryuji’s right now is captain kidd! they use personas to fight the shadows and eventually the owner of the palace.
idk how many palaces there are in game, but i haven’t even started the third one yet and i’m 23 hours into the game so .... there’s a lot of shit to do, lots of hearts to steal, lots of distorted desires to stomp on. the whole theme of the game is freedom and rehabilitation and all of that fun stuff.
oh ,,, and ryuji is the Softest most Bisexual(tm) boy there ever was don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!!!
