PSA: To those who want to rp
I know that anxiety and not wanting to be âthatâ person oftentimes keeps us from reaching out in regards to other role-players. Whether theyâre people we know, people we admire from afar, people we fangirl over, or people we simply havenât connected with⊠keep in mind that theyâre just people.
They are not mind readers. (Iâm not a mind reader either.)
They assume that youâre already busy just like you do them when youâre online and see their name online.Â
They might be bored, lonely, struggling, uninspired, or looking for something to do.Â
They might also be shy about reaching out. (JUST LIKE YOU ARE)
They might be busy with an irl situation or trying to wade out of someone throwing attitude/online drama at them.Â
Theyâre not being cold to you or ignoring you.Â
They just donât know youâre hoping for a chance to rp.
So reach out.
Worst case scenario? They canât at the time.Â
Hit them up with a prompt on tumblr. Let them get to it when they can.Â
And if you want to rp? Have a few ideas on something to actually DO IC. Walk up rp is great, but for sustained growth usually activity has to occur.Â
Can confirm, if you see me wandering around in game and I'm NOT in a party (on a company event) there is a 99.99% chance I'll gladly rp with you right there on the spot. I will drop whatever quest or dungeon queue I'm in if you gimme a prompt.
However, like this post says, please have an idea for what to do IC first. For a bad example, someone asked if I'd rp with them in the Quicksand. I agreed and emoted walking around and their character didn't acknowledge mine. Totally fine, why would you talk to a rando in a bar? Problem was their character didn't do anything either except idly check the crowd and order a drink. So neither of us had an IC reason to interact and S'kye ended up leaving.
