Seeing how excited her friend looked at the sight of all the food booths and stalls, Alexa felt reassured in her decision to bring Skye to the food market instead of going straight into all the shopping she had planned for the two of them. She swung their hands together as they walked around and tried to figure out what they wanted to eat. “Everything look’s so good, right?” She asked with a grin though her eyes were distracted with all the sights. “I don’t know if I want something savory or sweet. How about you, do you know what you want?”

     “I have no idea,” she stares at all the food stalls, eyes wide and she seems almost distressed that she neither has the money nor the stomach to eat everything that she wanted to eat today and she sighs dramatically. “I just know I’m starving and I definitely need something sweet and something savory,” Skye grins at her friend, not even minding the fact that they were still touching, too distracted by all the smells and sounds and the sight of food in general.

“Mhmm, just keep your eyes out for big white tents!” At least she was hoping that the tents they used were still the same white ones she saw when she had visited them with Auster two weeks ago. She was sure that it won’t be hard to miss, after all, the food market was pretty popular with the town’s people so if they god lost, they simply had to follow the crowd. Looping her arm through the other’s, she lead Skye down the cobblestone path until the reached the food market. “Here we are! Gosh, it smells so delicious here.”

     She does exactly that, keeping an eye out for white tents though the older girl spots them the exact same moment she does, having opened her mouth just slightly to point them out before she just laughs, amused and delighted that they had apparently caught sight of the white tents at the same, exact moment. “Oh man, I’m so hungry I could eat my dad’s shield,” Skye grinds out, this time being the one to pull Alexa along as she glances into all of the places, trying to find something that jumped out at her.

He laughs at that, the thought amusing him and he shakes his head with a low chuckle. “I’ll look like a unicorn barfed on me,” he jokes with a smirk and his eyes dance in amusement, reaching out to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. Her comment about him being unattractive doesn’t really hurt him, knowing that she doesn’t mean anything by it, but at the same time, there’s a niggling seed of doubt that tells him, maybe she’s not really joking. Maybe, she just can’t say it because they’re related, and – he pushes the thoughts away, reminding himself that he’s just being silly again.

“Mint green,” he muses with a thoughtful expression painted on an admittedly handsome face. “Mint green? I guess so. Not now, though, Lizzie.” He chuckles softly after a while of thinking, deciding that there could definitely be worse colors.

“It was amazing,” he repeats with a soft smile, his eyes full of affection for his little sister. He knows what she feels like, he thinks, to be approved by the one person who means the most (or so he hopes in her case).

    ”Yes, but you’d look cute,” she grins, amused but at the same time acknowledging the comment about a unicorn barfing on him. It would be fun to attempt to execute, she thinks, wondering how she would layer all the colors and how she would even go about dyeing them all on his head. And if that would completely kill his hair or not, because – she reaches up to thread her fingers through his blond strands, nodding after – it wasn’t too damaged just yet, but she also didn’t want to ruin it because, as of right now, her brother’s hair was still pretty soft.

    She pouts, more at the ‘not now’ than at the ‘Lizzie’, long used to getting called that nickname by her brother and she just pokes him in the bicep, hard. “Why not now? Can it be soon? I know your roots are fine but … mint green! Just think about it!”

    Glancing up at him, Skye can’t help the small smile on her face, muscles in her jaw working hard not to full out grin because that would be too much, even for her, and she covers her mouth with her hands, stuffing a strawberry between her lips before the grin can show much further. “I’m glad you liked it,” she mumbles, shy, proud and just all around happy for the praise from her big brother.

there’s a hum of thought as they exit, feeling herself in a small enough bubble that speaking to skye no longer felt like a feat to get over – no one would listen in, no one would bother them. with the rogers, edea was safe. “honestly… i was thinking clam chowder or… something like that,” she admitted quietly, but as she glanced from the corner of her eye, she found herself giggling a little behind her hand. skye was refreshing and vibrant. everything the young woman wished she was, and yet it never bothered her. 

(it just kept her up some nights, wondering where all her bravery had gone.) 

“junk food? those are empty carbs, skye… pizza?” she suggested anyway, because pizza was a universal love and still filling. “then you can take a slice to vincent later and he won’t complain about feeling left out.” edea clasped her hands together before her, an easy smile making her eyes nearly disappear. “but we can get some ice cream before we deliver the pizza. that, he won’t need to know. how’s that sound?”

     “Clam chowder sounds amazing,” she blinks at her friend, eyes widening as if she hadn’t even thought of it -- which she really hadn’t. She stares at her friend before she skips ahead to gently bump the older girl’s shoulder with her own, eyes bright. “Pizza is amazing too though -- what if I dunked a piece of pizza into clam chowder? Do you think that would taste good?” She’s just spewing random ideas, glad that Edea was talking to her, always worried she might stop again and her expression is excited, bright. 

     She can’t help but laugh at the suggestion, considering her usual plan was to give her older brother healthy food because she knew that if she wasn’t feeding him, Dalena was, and if Dalena wasn’t feeding him, then he was probably gorging himself on some junk food. Such as pizza. But it was never a bad idea to spend time eating with her brother. “That’s a good idea actually -- he’ll be hurt that we hung out without him,” she jokes, shrugging and she sends him a quick text anyway that she’ll come by with food later. “But clam chowder sounds really good ...”

( /holds her pizza in midair and endearingly stares at skye for a few seconds because what the heck, she’s freaking cute with her bloated cheeks. she laughs before finishing her first slice, hands reaching for the second one. ) aw, that’s a shame. bye, bye skye’s hubby. you will truly be missed. ( /salutes her best friend’s pizza slice with her free hand. ) i’m starting to get thirsty.. i should have brought drinks.

     Bye bye ~ ( `/ she echoes the sentiment with a laugh, shoving the rest of the slice of her pizza into her mouth, cheeks puffing out again and at her best friend’s mention of drinks and she waves her arms to get the other girl’s attention -- not that she had lost it, but just in case Joyce looked away -- indicating at herself and pointing at a smoothie shop, saying she would grab drinks and she tugs her wallet out of her bag before she darts off )

      ”Food always smells good,” she points out solemnly, deciding to leave out the fact that food always smelt good unless it was her brother who was cooking and she just shrugs. “I’m just hungry,” she grins, though honestly, she’s always hungry and she just ends up tugging the older girl quickly down the street, wanting some food in her tummy and this was the easiest way to get her to that end goal. (Skye had totally forgotten the whole point of this trip was to shop, but she would get to that later. Probably.)

     “Isn’t there a word for that…” He muttered, lips pursed in thought as he nodded, leaning back before he raised his hand as he had his eureka moment. “Catharsis! Shouldn’t that help? At least you’d get that out of the way instead of bottling everything up.” His mind didn’t process her logic, albeit he never quite expressed his emotions so openly before, remembering how much he had screamed and cried as his instructor’s hand had struck him.

     The bruises he had sported were no longer there, but the scars remained and no matter how much he tried to hide them, he never could. The burst of emotion helped him get through it, slowly surrendering himself to the pain and fear–as though numbing himself to it all. It didn’t seem healthy to continuously keep such emotions to oneself, considering how poisonous they could be to their being.

     “It’s okay to cry, you know. There’s no valid reason not to.”

     ”Well,” she exhales softly, knowing he was right, and her older brother was always telling her that it was okay to show her emotions, that it was okay to be open and truthful to herself, glancing at the male sitting beside her bed and she turns her gaze back to her hands, bunching them in the sheets that the infirmary used as blankets on the beds. “Yeah ... everyone I know tells me this, but,” Skye just shakes her head head, picking at a random thread on the sheets. 

     “But, I can’t?” Honestly, she’s not too sure why she’s telling him this, a complete stranger but it feels nice that he seemed to be somewhat willing to listen to what she was saying, and even offer an opinion on the matter. “I ... it’s been too long. I can’t ... I can’t seem to let my emotions out, really. I know it sounds weird, but I’m too used to it. I think.” And it’s true, knowing that her entire persona was her hiding her emotions and changing her behaviors and trying to be someone that she wasn’t -- until she became that person. And now she didn’t think there was a way of turning back at all.

( /she takes the meat lovers slice from her plate, bringing it up to her mouth and biting into it. her taste buds explode at the delicious flavor. the meats complemented each other well, and joyce could not get enough. she averted her attention to skye, and observed as the other proclaimed her love for the slice of pizza in her possession. ) are you the two of you getting married? ( /she jokes, raising an eyebrow as she takes another mouthful of pizza. ) don’t forget to make me one of your bridesmaids.

     Yes. ( `/ she nods, content enough with that and she bites into the slice with something that could almost resemble a moan if it was muffled by food, so happy with the pizza that her best friend had chosen for her and she closes her eyes as she chews, cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk that she was so often compared to ) Sorry, the relationship is almost over. ( `/ she indicates the half eaten slice, waving an idle hand ) Relationships with food tend to be rather fleeting.

He gapes at her playfully, as though incredibly offended that she’s essentially made his name and the word ‘idiot’ synonymous. The problem here is that he honestly can’t deny just how challenged he is when it comes to the kitchen, and sometimes to social situations in general. While he often has the best intentions, his hardheadedness and his need to protect those closest to him sometimes causes him to act inappropriately and in a way that counteracts all the good he’s tried to do.

“I swear, one day you’ll dye me all the colors of the rainbow while I sit here and cry,” he comments with an amused smile. “Have I thwarted all your plans to make me look unattractive?” He jokes, pretending to preen and be narcissistic. It’s half a joke – he knows he’s attractive but he doesn’t think too much of it, because in his opinion, both his sister and his father (and even his mother, what he remembers of her) are all much more attractive than he is. In a way, sometimes he thinks he doesn’t fit.

“I loved the wrap.” His expression softens as he reads the tone of her voice, knowing that somehow, luckily, she still seeks his approval on matters despite pretending like she doesn’t care about what he thinks.

    “I think you’ll look beautiful as a rainbow,” she says seriously, hoping he wouldn’t pick up on the fact that she was joking because, honestly, now that he had mentioned it she was definitely imagining how he would look if she dyed his hair the colors of a rainbow. It’s an amusing thought though, and she wonders whether he might actually allow her to do it one day. Storing away that image for future references, she just shrugs with a laugh. “You’re always unattractive,” she teases, completely playful this time.

    Despite how often she calls her older brother gross, Skye definitely can see why so many people ask her if he’s available. (In which she tells them that he’s gross and to find out themselves since she doesn’t exactly want to involve herself in things like that. Especially if it involved anything too intimate. Those were definitely things she didn’t need to know about. Ever.) “But mint green? Ey ~” she jokes, nudging him gently.

    ”Really?” She can’t help the hopeful tone in her voice, knowing that Vincent would honestly eat anything as long as it was edible. It wasn’t that she needed his approval considering she knew she could most definitely cook, it was just … nice to hear. Especially coming from her own brother.

“contradicting yourself” sipping from the drink slowly, his eyes remain on her, red curls, pretty eyes, prettier smile, glancing at her features with a look that would warn any older brother to stop him (it’s a good thing said older brother was no where in sight, really, aris always afraid that he would cop a black eye one day from the eldest rogers), “it’s not a waste when it’s for you” 

he shrugs, “the sky, the roof, my affection for you” nonchalant as he always was, aris was trained in knowing what to say, when to say it, complete with an air that he cared just enough to make girls question his sincerity. he wonders if skye has ever fallen for the trick. “what are you doing in the nurses office anyway? still disabled? want me to sweep you off your feet?”

     “That’s amazingly cute and flattering and everything, but I still say you should save those words for someone who’s more likely to fall for them,” she grins at him, never having felt anything more for him than friendship, and she’s practically become a master at sidestepping his advances and his pick up lines, sipping quietly at the chocolate milkshake. 

     Skye glances over at him as she quietly sucks on the straw, relishing in the icy cold, chocolately drink and she’s pretty satisfied, used to easily flirting back and she laughs. “My ankle still throbs a bit, but it’s not hard to kick your ass either way,” she chirps, waving the milkshake at him as if tutting. “Can you sweep anyone off their feet? You look a bit scrawny for that, honestly. No offence.”

edea’s laughter was silent, a wide grin and shaking shoulders at her friend’s remark. whether or not she’d gotten dye on her shirt was the least of her concerns – skye was there, enjoying the moment with her. she shook her head quickly and reached for the younger girl’s wrist, giving it a gentle tug to say no, she hadn’t failed! she puffed her cheeks out as she pouted to the red head, her disapproval clear in the way her brows knit together. 

after a moment, she patted her stomach once and pointed to the door, an offer to take her swimming friend out to lunch. at the very least, to get out of the bustle of people in the hallway. at least she had skye to focus on, the sister of her dear friend vincent. the rogers had always been kind to edea, and for that, she might always be indebted to them. kindness seemed like a luxury, sometimes.

      She grins, not minding this at all and she lets her friend tug her along, not unwilling at all as she nods at the sign that the older girl is hungry and she follows easily, considering she’s quite a bit hungry as well. Knowing Vincent was still talking to to some of the other members of the swim team, Skye decided she was just text him later if she needed to, wanting to spend time with her friend, 

     “What are you planning to eat?” She asks, catching up and falling into step with her good friend, twisting her still-damp hair around a finger as she tests to see how damp it is, wanting to either braid it to the side or tie it into a ponytail. (Probably a ponytail, considering she was horrible at braiding, unable to get a hang of it no matter who taught her, and honestly she was rather annoyed at that fact.) “I’m kind of feeling a salad or something ... but please feed me junk food because I only feel like eating healthy because I just swam, and I’l probably regret it later.”

aris always had a habit of buying two of every beverage. if not for himself, then it was normally for juliet. if not, then it was for nathan. and if not for either of the two most important people in his life (yes, aris is, in fact, incredibly loyal) there was always a girl, with a heart, and a personality, looking to be wine and dined and swept off their feet. 

today he had chocolate milkshakes. 

carrying both drinks along, he smiles at the right time, looks away just long enough, with a flick of his hair, to keep a group of fourth year females giggling as they pass him, smirking to himself, when, he overhears one sigh. he’ll expect a note from her by the end of the day. he spots todays particular object of affection leaving the nurses office, striding up to her, “a great man once said that chocolate can fix any situation” with a confident smile, he offers her the drink, shrugging after a moment, “okay so that great man was remus lupin but that doesnt change the fact that you deserve this”

     She’s been forced to come back to get regular checkups on her ankle that she had fractured. It had healed in the time they had told her that it would but she wasn’t supposed to be doing any strenuous activity -- which, of course, was difficult for her and was the sole reason as to why she was stopping at the nurse’s office to have her ankle scanned and massaged and whatnot. It was normal for her, but stepping outside and having a chocolate milkshake thrust into her hands was definitely new. She almost felt like this was a prank of some sort, thinking this was an odd way of being greeted by someone and she doesn’t even know who it is yet, her attention stolen by the icy drink now being held within her hands.

     Glancing up at the male, Skye just grins as the familiar face and she places a hand over her heart as if touched. “Wasting your money on me? I’m flattered,” she chirps, even fluttering her eyelashes at him. Quickly taking a sip, she sighs softly, content enough with this and she shrugs, recognizing the quote he had just said. “Chocolate definitely fixes everything,” she nods, agreeing easily, taking another long sip of the milkshake. “Especially when it’s combined with ice cream, it’s a winner. What’s up?”

Her words brought laughter to the princess’s lips and though she didn’t actually understand how big brothers could be gross considering that hers was always prince like, she did find Skye funny. It was also obvious, well to Alexa it was at least, to see that she loved her brother despite his so called grossness. “I promised you the food market, right? We can grab something there first then look at the shops after. Sound good?”

     “Yesssss,” it’s obvious that that was exactly what the younger girl had been hoping to hear, her expression brightening almost immediately as she glances up at the other girl, excited eyes looking for a sign, hoping that her friend knew where they were going because she definitely did not. “I don’t see a map anywhere,” she points out, tiptoeing in hopes that maybe she could see something with the couple centimeters that doing so gave her. Damn her lack of height. “Do you know where they are?”

Pearly white teeth bit down on pink lips. Jasper felt herself slowly blending into the background and disappearing into the abyss. The whole club was still yelling, arguing about what they would make first. Jasper personally wanted to make cookies because she loved those but no one could have heard her with all the noise. Well, not until Skye arrived. Looking at her phone, she let out a soft “ah” as she remembered the other was injured. Oops. Perhaps she should have waited for her..well- too late now. At least she didn’t forget her. She slowly slide towards the door to the room, waiting for the other before replying.

     She sighs a bit, tucking the phone back into her pocket and keeping almost a sixth sense on the electronic device in case it buzzed again to indicate a reply from her soft spoken friend. Musing to herself, she couldn’t help but think that she tended to make a lot of friends that seemed to be the complete opposite in personality from her -- not that it matters to her at all. It’s just interesting, and she sighs again as she continues to hobble down the hallway to the kitchens for the cooking club. The thought of cookies was drawing her to try to move faster, despite having been told to take it easy. 

     One, two, one, two ... Skye counts quietly, moving the crutches before she grins, pushing open the door to the kitchen and hobbling inside quietly, looking around for a glimpse of her friend.
