Bros before sexist cliches - skylar & forest
basically married to each other
“Are you trying to tell me who work in an office don’t have offices phone calls to people?” He asked with a raised brow. Jett didn’t know much about working in an actual office building – he’d never worked in one and never exactly planned on it. But what else was there to do except make phone calls and talk to boring coworkers about a boring weekend? He was starting to remember why he chose to spend as little time with Skylar as possible.
Jett let out a quick sigh. “Right. I’m the dick. I’m the one who looks down on other people because they’re not going to a fancy college next fall.” Yes, he definitely was remembering why he didn’t like being around Skylar too long; not only were they from two completely different circles in life, but the two simply couldn’t get along. Jett was okay with that, however. He didn’t exactly want to get along with someone like Skylar. “I never said what your family did was my business and I certainly don’t plan on going out of my way to figure out your ‘family image’ or whatever. Newsflash, Skylar: no one has the perfect family, so maybe you want to run off and tell your dad to stop walking around and pretending like he does.”
“Some though, I mean. Yes they do, but that’s not all we do. I don’t know sometimes they do fun stuff or um.. illegal stuff,” He mumbled the last part, knowing exactly what his father was involved it. It made him... feel strange. He wasn’t sure what he felt because of it. He didn’t like to think about the little secret he was sitting on, especially since he was tittering on the age of legal arrestion. Though, his next few statements was a reminder to Skylar why he just didn’t hang out with Jett as much. They were just too different. Much too different.
“Hey, I wasn’t looking down at that part. I was just saying because of jobs. I’m just saying, having a degree gets having jobs..You make a lot of money.” He shrugged. “But hey if you want to be an asshat about it, then be an asshat about it.” He smirked, shaking his head. They were getting along just till then. His other comment about his family, made him extremely irritated “You have no idea why we have to keep up that perfect image! You have no idea just how much effort it takes on everyone. I’m sure you have no idea what the hell it takes!”
One thing about the Edwards that everyone knew was that they were always seen as this ideal family, the pristine political family that were supposed to be the example of what Peregrine was meant to be. Forest used to admire that until he saw more of the pitfalls of pretending to be perfect since he was doing the same to himself. Most people on their school saw Skylar as the pompous ass who happened to be best friends with the gold boy soccer star Forest. They were both holding up facades and it only made sense that they were more themselves when they were alone together. The black haired boy always wanted to voice his opinion about the Edward’s family and the way his father influenced his best friend but he didn’t want to cause a conflict so he stuck to slowly trying to help him cut the cord. Get him to be himself, not the person his parents wanted to be. Many students questioned him about his friendship, why he defended him and why they were even friends to begin with. They were brothers, not by blood but by an unspoken bond that made them inseparable. Brothers protect each other and except the other no matter what, even if one of them is perceived as a douche. Forest looked over at his friend, the weak smile growing as he couldn’t not smile when it came to Skylar. “I think you have gotten yourself a bet!” He teased, one brow raising as he watched him chug. “And you seem to forget that I am not a quitter.”
Forest was more muscle than fat, it was from all the exercising and the tension that turned most of his stress into a workout. He was much bigger than Skylar weight wise but he didn’t underestimate his friend’s past with alcohol. The black haired boy was usually the type to sip on a drink until it was finished before going onto the next and ended up leaving the party with a very drunk Skylar who usually needed help walking to the car. This was a change of pace for him but he wasn’t about to reevaluate his emotions so drinking seemed a good way to prolong his efforts. Forest quickly poured himself another drink and then another before lifting a hand to his mouth. “That is - “ He hiccuped, knowing he drank too fast. “ - a very good idea.” As his best friend went to grab snacks, Forest flamboyantly grabbed the bottles and placed his cup between his teeth. He made it upstairs before Skylar, setting both bottles on the night table next to the bed before kicking off his shoes and dropping onto the right side. “Oooo! What do we have?” Brown eyes swept over the snacks before picking up a bag of cheetos. He knew that he shouldn’t eat junk food but he’d make up for it by adding more to his exercise regime for the next week. As he quickly opened the bag and chomped on orange puffs, Forest quickly realized that it wasn’t a horrible combination. Cheetos and Jack. He chugged the rest of his drink, washing down the crumbs stuck in his teeth. “Okay I am done with the cup!” The black haired boy threw the empty cup aimlessly, not caring if it landed near the door or straight in Skylar’s face before he took the unopened vodka and unscrewed the top. “So like you and Viv?” He locked eyes with Skylar, trying to start a conversation that didn’t pertain to his feelings. “She is pissed at you but I don’t think she mea-meant it like..she-sh-she doesn’t seem like - wait..” Forest held up his hand as he brought the bottle to his lips and began to chug. He opened his eyes halfway through before letting out an ‘ahhh.’ “ - like she hates you.. which.. which is weird cause like.. most girls do bro.” He furrowed his brows. “..she’s like the blair to your chuck, bro.”
Having Forest in his room, Skylar was brought back almost to their days as kids where they would come up to his room, play video games, and talk about whatever young guys talk about. They were so young and innocent back then. Children were so young and innocent. Now, look at them now? What the hel were they doing with their life? Fighting a demon? Something that didn’t even exist? What did these two best friends become? ‘I’m with you to the end,’ was a saying that used to fall between them slightly. Once they say that Captain America moving, it was obvious that they would be with each other till the end of the line. It was strange when he thought about how close he and Forest were, but then again, who was he to trouble this world that had brought these two together? He wasn’t about to tempt fates. He kicked off his shoes and socks as he fell onto the floor, raising an eyebrow when he said that the other was done with his drink. “Damn dude.” He didn’t even take a moment before he grabbed another cub and poured it straight with vodka. He mixed it with coke then immeidately downed it. “Yes!” He screeched as he sat down next to Forest grabbing some cheetos. They may go bad with drinks, but damn did he love them.
The question about Viv threw him off a little. Not because they never talked about girls because they often do, but because he wasn’t quite sure how he felt about her. It would be obvious to anyone who observed him around her, but to himself, he was a little bit oblivious. Not because he didn’t like her, but because he wanted to hurt less. He didn’t want to keep feeling the pain that not having her would bring. He couldn’t have her. Now that his fortune and everything was on the line. The other gave an exaggerated shrug and ate another couple handful of cheetos. “The blair to my chuck? Dude are you talking about Gossip Girl? We only watched like five episodes! You watched more? Dudeee!” He groaned. “You won’t suppose to go on without me.” He sighed. “I don’t know mannn. I know how she makes me feel. She gives me feels Forest. Like I don’t know not like only girl in my groan feels but like I don’t know man. She sucks in that way. Like what the fuck are these things?” He just grabbed the bottle of Jack and downed a couple sips before placing it to the side. “Ughhh I don’t want to talk about her though. She makes me so horny and sad,” He stated emphasizing the last two adjectives. “What about you dude? Got anyone?”
“B-behind you!” her tone strident and weak, as she was fully in shock. The fact that he didn’t notice the monster—spider made her somewhat annoyed. Luckily it was buried under the amount of freaking out her mind and body was undergoing. “The spider you ass-hat.” she spoke up again, this time failing in her spot. Even if she wanted it gone, apart of her broke through her emotional state and spoke quickly; “Don’t kill it though…I don’t know catch it or release it but…yeah. It’s ugly but, just don’t.” Typical Vivian Walsh, since no matter the creature (ugly or cute) she couldn’t bring herself to kill it. To her all life was important, no matter how insignificant it was compared to her.
Immediately, the Edwards boy glanced behind him to see a big ass spider crawling up the counter top. He wasn’t much of a people person, and much less of a bug person in general. He let out a small gasp as it’s slick black, hairy legs made its way to its sink. He backed up toward Vivian, in an attempt to avoid it. They didn’t have anything really harmful in Peregrine, but it still didn’t stop Skylar from freaking out a little bit. “Viv I..” Geez, was he really going to wimp out with a spider? C’mon, he’s a dude, he could do this. He definitely didn’t want to touch it either, but goddamn, this freakin’ woman had to be so picky. “Um... okay..” He wasn’t going to be a wimp. He had to be a man this time around. He tied his bed sheet around his waist as he inched slowly toward the spider. Each time he moved, he felt his heart jump into his chest and then he grabbed the tissue paper quickly, laying it down in front of the spider. He inhaled deeply as the creature crawled onto the tissue and immediately, he wrapped it up, ran to the partially open window and threw it out, tissue paper and all.

skylarwedwards said: SPIDER!; for a starter where my character spots a spider while in the shower.
The shriek that came from Vivian’s mouth could pierce the sound barrier if it wasn’t in the confines of Skylar’s bathroom. The steamy room, built for a king, had the young soon-to-be-witch pinned against the corner screaming for help. Wrapped in nothing but a towel, she was standing on top of tub’s basin flailing and cringing as the creature—the spider crawled further up the mirror she was just standing at. Large, dark, and hairy the eight legged creature laid there, it’s reflection doubling only to amplif Vivian’s anxiety.
“SKY! Skylar!” she plead while she shooed with her hands through the air.
Skylar was laying on his bed, rolling through the newest phone feed. He smirked looking at what everyone was doing with their life. They all lived such normal lives. He didn’t know what that made him, but he hoped it made him a bit extraordinary. At least that’s what his father used to tell them. He was scared shitless when he heard a shriek from his bathroom. Immediately he dragged the sheets to hide his body as he walked over to the bathroom. “what’s wrong? What’s going on?” The Edwards boy asked, looking around to see what could be causing Vivian to scream so loudly. “What’s the matter?” His eyes defitely didn’t spot the spider in the corner.
“lose something?” “yup. all of my soccer skills: my kick, my dribbling.”
So let’s never speak of them again or I’ll cut you all into little pieces.
His brown eyes rolled as Skylar teased him about his comment, they weren’t exactly even middle class - the Edwards were pretty much one of the richest families in the town so it made sense they’d stock up on the nicest of things even if it was alcohol. Then again, his father was a politician and he knew from being their home over years that things weren’t as perfect as they all liked to pretend for the public. “Me? Worry about whiskey? I think you are talking to wrong guy.” Forest shook his head, a weak smile pushing at the corners of his lips as they drove through town to get to Skylar’s house. He ran his hands down his thighs, trying to just get himself relaxed after the whole ordeal so he could just let go when started drinking. Usually he wasn’t really a drinking to mask feelings kind of guy but today was especially draining and he just needed a break from reality. To feel out of control on purpose and just fog his mind so he didn’t have to think about what those people thought of him now, if this project even worked.
Forest saw Skylar side eye him as he pulled into the family driveway. It was obvious he was worried about him which he appreciated. A lot of people didn’t see this side of his best friend. They always took him from face value and never seemed to care to try to see if there was anything else to him. He was more than just the mayors son, more than the rich boy who was raised to be arrogant. He had his moments of clarity and humbleness. Forest only wished that Skylar was more like this in public and not when they were alone. He always worried about him when they went off the college, who was going to be the person to make sure he didn’t lose being grounded after so many years of him trying to keep him in check. the black haired boy walked through Skylar’s house surprised to not be hugged by his mother and slapped on the shoulder by his father. Even his sister was out but it was a blessing in disguise. They didn’t have to really sneak around to get to the alcohol. He nodded as they went downstairs to where his father stored the drinks. Forest took in a deep breath as Sky walked back upstairs and left him to pick the drink. He grabbed the whiskey he liked and a bottle of vodka just in case the whiskey didn’t do it’s trick and trotted upstairs carefully with glass bottles in his arms. He placed them on the kitchen counter next to the sodas and went to grab a cup. Forest opted for a plastic cup, not in the mood to have to clean up after himself and quickly mixed a drink that was more jack that coke before chugging it. “Come on man! You are going to fall behind if you don’t start now.” He chuckled out, his hands shaking slightly as he poured himself another drink.
Forest was one of the few people that ever got to see the vulnerable side in the Edwards boy. He was usually very put together and put on that arrogant nature to make sure that no one could see past his own vulnerabilities that could be much on display. If one looked past it, it was right there all over him - everything that he ever questioned and everything he had every known seemed to be wrapped up all in his eyes. His dark brown eyes were windows to his soul, and only few could get close enough to see all that he had seen. He was an Edwards, and no one ever got close enough to see anything. He walked upstairs to grab the soda from the fridge and plastic cups to pour the alcohol into. He wasn’t in the mood to clean up after themselves after they hid their alcohol in their room. He started pouring himself some sprite and grabbing the vodka when Forest brought it u. He smirked at the other’s comment. “You think you can drink me under the table? You’re in for it, man. You know me, I have a high tolerance rate.” He mixed his two drinks together before downing it with a wince on his face and a satisfying Ahhh.
Skylar did not have a high tolerance rate. He had a normal one because he was an average sized guy. Though, he probably drank too much for his size. He didn’t care though, drinking made him feel wild and old of control which was something he loved. He loved feel the freedom of being drunk becuase that was something that he never had before. He poured himself another drink of coke and jack then downed it quickly. He was in for a wild night. “C’mon, Forest, we’re going up to my room. I don’t want anyone to see us. I’m going to grab snacks. You go grab the drinks,” He directed as he went to the pantry to pick out some good chips and other snacking treats. He loved these times with Forest where they would just sit, eat, drink and play video games. He felt like it build the brotherly bond between them. He rushed up the stairs when he finished with the snacks. “C’mon I have snacks.” he tossed them on the bed.
Forest was grateful when Skylar didn’t push into the subject on how he was feeling after the meeting, there was a wall waiting to cave in and if he let thing out, it was bound to blow. He didn’t want to burden his best friend with every thing that bothered him. The black haired boy pulled his phone out of his pocket and checked to see if there was a text/call about Hugo. Nothing. Not even a missed call from his parents. He shoved his phone back in his pocket before taking in a deep breath. He was glad to have Skylar in his life. He had no clue if he had any real sibling out there in the world but the only brother he knew he had was his best friend. His parents used to discourage him being his friend when they got to know his parents, to the religious guardians - Skylar’s home was a den of lies, pride and greed. Forest insisted on being his friend since he was the only one he really had, the only person who made him feel like he was a normal human and he felt like he was saving Sky from becoming like his dad. Influencing him into being the Skylar that he knew was a little kid. The black haired boy let out a sigh, the air pushing out loudly.
“Yeah yeah - good.” He nodded quickly as he slid into the BMW that he had sat in many times before. There was practically an indent in passenger seat from his butt. Forest shrugged as he clipped the seat belt. “Nah, I just need to not go home right now.. Please tell me your dad has that good whiskey?” He laid his head against the head rest, his chin raised as he stared at the bleary ceiling. “I am in dire need of a jack and coke.”
“Of course my dad’s got that good whiskey. Is that even a question?” Skylar replied with a heavy grin. “Dude, I got you don’t worry.” He clipped on his seat belt, and started back toward his house in the wealthier class area of Peregrine. If there was anyone he was thankful to have in his life more than his sister, it was Forest. Forest was his saving grace when it came to influencing him positive ways rather than negative. He kept him sane in the head, and when he was a little bit too much in his own world, Forest brought him there. Of course, he couldn’t do that all the time, but he did his best. Forest was the closest thing he ever had to a brother, and if it wasn’t for biological reasons, they probably could be. They weren’t emotionally attached, but Skylar knew everything about him. He knew his little quirks; his favorite cleats; his favorite video games; what he needs to take his minds off of things; and whenever he needs a listening ear. He knows when Forest needs him there, and when he just wants a bro to be there with drinks and alcohol. It was a strange dynamic to some, but to the two boys, it’s worked wonders. That’s how they became best friends.
As Skylar drove through the neighborhood to his house, he glanced quickly over at Forest to make sure he was doing okay before pulling into his driveway. The Edwards boy parked the car in the garage next to the others and noticed all his family was gone. His mom and dad wasn’t a surprise, but to see Sabrina not in her room was definitely one for the books. She was probably out fulfilling dad’s prophecy. “C’mon the alcohol is in the basement,” Skylar said, motioning to a flight of stairs to the basement door. He opened it up and immediately they were in the cellar where all the “illegal” drinks were kept. “Pick your poison dude.” He pat Forest on the shoulder before heading to grab the sodas.
Jett found himself rolling his eyes. Of course, Skylar was going to think the only way of getting anywhere in life was going through college. “Because sitting in an office alone making phone calls all day is so much better,” Jett muttered. At least, that was how he imagined what well-paid jobs were like – boring offices, phone calls overseas, business deals with people that you’d never talk to again…not the kind of life Jett wanted to live.
“You know, it’s surprising that two people can get along decently enough when one of them decides to not be a dick.” He added, his eyes lingering on Skylar for a half a second longer before looking away. “Sounds like Mr. Mayor’s family isn’t as perfect as he’d like it to be.” Jett scoffed, knowing very well how important the ‘perfect family’ image tended to be for political figures, something he never quite understood. Jett certainly knew his family didn’t fit the cookie-cutter, with his own father out of the picture and Harlee’s father’s sporadic appearances. But at least they didn’t make it seem like they didn’t have any problems.
“You know that’s not what people do? Like normal people with a job?” Skylar said, raising an eyebrow. He was really confused on what Jett’s outlook on life was as well as what he thought an actual job meant. Did he believe in actual jobs? Did he even know what an actual job was? Did he know anything about being business savvy? It just seemed really strange to him the type of world Jett Katira came from. It was so much different than his, and it seemed, so much more free. It wasn’t rigid work.
He smirked at Jett’s next comment, and rolled an eyebrow. “Yeah, and which one is that?” He shot back with a shrug. His next comment seemed to come from the left side of the field, but Skylar supposed he had been hinting at it all along. His family was messed up, but it was never anything he wanted to talk to Jett about. He just shrugged at his question, and ran an awkward hand through his hair. “Whatever. My family really isn’t any of your concern,” He mumbled. He would of said it with more enthusiasm if his family didn’t suck hardcore. “What my family’s image is something you’ll never get.” He started to get a bit more heated with this statement. People trying to relate to him on a famililral level just was strange to him and made him almost angry. They would never have to go through the shit he did. “Because honestly your family seems pretty damn close to perfect with your little sister and your mom.”

“Teenager phase is the only one I wanted.” replying lowly, almost like a grumble. The quick shift from teenager-girl over the summer to teenage-witch was fast—too fast. It seemed to build each day, more and more thrown on top of her until she barely noticed herself sometimes. Being a witch made her feel great most of the time, since it was like a mild body high all day. Having this power in her veins, the emotions and thoughts of others washing over her…it didn’t suck all the time. Just in situations like now. Where peril and pain were the rewards of her being this; being them.
Looking up at him, her eyes glancing at his sweat laced hair and the “paint” of a fierce game all over his face causing her to smile softly like she had done before as a fan in the stands. “You always said soccer was the best kind of distraction.” Legal at least any way, thinking to herself. Vivian had to take a heavy breath for a moment, to push herself out of the spell that they fabricated when they were around one another. Call it their cycle or their vice, but it was always the same. Kindness. They kind that drew them in, each sentiment glossed over with reminiscent memories. The kind that cripples your senses. Joy. That kind of happiness that always caused laughter and excitement that anything seemed possible. They would get so wrapped up in the past that they’d forget about their present until the future seemed never coming. They would surround themselves in this until the would cross that line; that place of make believe. Passion.
Though with Viv being a witch (now) she had the power to break this spell for once.
“Oh…” she exhaled, “I hope everything worked y’now.” she stood from the bleachers and walked down the first three steps, “I’ve been meaning to send her flowers, um lilies are still her favorite?” she approached him, her heart steadfast in not letting her or his emotions work her. As she got closer, hearing his offer made her feel stiff—a bodily reaction to pull away. To fight that want. “If I’m being honest not sure that’s a good idea….I was planning on teleporting home anyway. That is after I drop off some of the equipment back in the office.”
Skylar saw her stiffen at his request to take a ride together which was completely understandable. If it was him in her position, he’d probably blow the other off as well. They were riding in a constant circle of grief - it may be joyful in the beginning but by the end, their emotions and hearts would end in despair. It was a cycle that Skylar was fully aware of, but he was too connected with Vivian to want out. He wanted in so bad, and that’s why he refused to back out, not yet. He knew in his better judgement he should have. He should of left, and closed that door when they ended things, but here he was, still fighting for who knows what? Vivian wasn’t an option in his father’s eyes, but his father was a bit of a dick. It was a stark realization for him in the middle of the soccer field, and he was a bit taken aback for a moment by that single thought entering his head. It was strange thinking of the man he once looked up to as a douchebag. It made him feel...strange. Maybe he needed that car ride alone to just stomach that.
“It’ll be okay,” Skylar replied with a gentle, forced smile on his face. The fact that she remembered his sister’s favorite flowers made his forced grin soften a little. It was the little things she remembered that showed she knew him at least a little bit. “Oh right, I forgot you can teleport.” He shrugged, pulling his bag over his shoulder. “I uh can help you with the equipment if you want. Stella will be asleep anyway so I can take a fw minutes.” He knew he was making excuses at this point, but he did like being with her.

It was an emotional night, well actually it was an emotional day and a half with Hugo’s initial fainting to the secrets pouring from each member. It felt so strange, hearing these stories from people he barely knew - things that shocked him, things that wanted him to cry and hold these people who hated or didn’t know him either. He was trying so hard to keep up this façade as if he wasn’t counting the moments till he could be alone and just let it out, all the tears he was holding in for the sake of the coven. The black haired boy was technically the stand in leader until Hugo got better - if he got better - and he couldn’t let himself slip, especially not now when everyone needed him to be the rock they all saw him as. The golden boy who was going to save the day. Forest watched as everyone left slowly, praying to a figure that he didn’t completely believed existed to get a call that Hugo was starting to get better, that he plan had worked. Skylar walked up to him, his heart immediately started to pound again. He didn’t want to talk about his mom or why he didn’t tell the person close enough to him that he considered a brother that he was the unwanted child of a verbally abusive mother. The black haired boy took in a deep breath as an arm was placed around his shoulder, he had to be strong. “Fine - I’m fine.. I just hope Hugo is okay.” He glanced over at his friend before looking down. Skylar and Forest didn’t have that type of relationship where they had super deep conversations about their feelings and their fears. “Yeah… I’m pretty sure I freaked out Mom and Dad so I - I really need to get my mind off of all this.” Forest spoke as he started to walk towards the trail. “Any way you could raid your dad’s liquor cabinet?”
The fine, I’m fine was enough to get Skylar to worry but if the other didn’t want to talk to him about it, he wasn’t going to budge. They weren’t the type to have deep conversations on a regular basis anyway. The more of the type to have fun together and if they ever needed someone to talk to, the other was there for them through thick and thin. That’s how the two worked. They would be there for each other till the very end. It didn’t worry the Edwards boy that the two were heading off to college either. He was positive that distance wouldn’t kill them because why would it? Their friendship was years more than a decade old. Some silly distance wasn’t about to kill that for him. “Yeah, yeah,” was all Skylar said in agreement. Of course, he didn’t want Hugo to die. That would really suck. He wanted to be leader but not in a way where the other would die.
Skylar nodded again at his last words and a small grin came on his face. “Yeah, of course, dude, and you know me, I always have access to the liquor cabinet.” He walked along with Forest to his car in the front. (Of course it was a BMW, because what else would Skylar Edwards ride in?) “You ready to head out? Is there anything else you need to do before heading to my place?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“…Do you actually care?” Jett asked back. Most people didn’t ask him about his plans for higher education – the only people who had was his guidance counselor (who Jett was pretty sure was paid to tell him that he needed to go to college) and briefly, his mother. “Surprise, surprise, it’s actually possible to get a job without paying a few thousand dollars to go to school.” Jett didn’t even know what he wanted to do with his life. He was content working at the tattoo parlor for the time being. His mother and sister still needed him in Peregrine. And after that…that was for future Jett to worry about.
He shrugged back. “It doesn’t really matter.” He said. There were small moments where Jett looked in the mirror, trying to figure out what kind of man his father was, but he found that as the years went on he cared less and less. “Some parents are better than others,” He replied, thinking how he’d wound up with a pretty decent mom. There were times where they butt heads, but he was fairly sure that naturally happened between parents and kids. “Guess it just depends what kinda parents you wind up with.”
His question surprised him, because in all honesty, he really didn’t care at all. Skylar was really more curious about the question then cared if he’d live a good life because of it. All his life, academics and going to college has been drilled into his brain. Thinking that you could get an actual paying job without going to college was just extraordinary to him. He shook his head. “Yeah, whatever. There’s a difference between getting a job and getting a good job,” He replied with a simple shrug. “I don’t want to be behind a counter for the rest of my life.” He shrugged. He wasn’t the type of person who liked to be told what to do but preferred to call the shots.
The thought of actually having decent parents baffled the Edwards boy. All he could think about was how messed up his family was. His mother was always off doing who knows what with the money she definitely doesn’t know where it comes from; and his father is doing who knows what besides yelling at him to get into a good college and yelling at his sister. What were good parents even like? Were they actually there for you? That was weird to him. “Yeah I guess. Parents suck either way.” He didn’t say his because that would just make it too personal for him, and Jett didn’t need to know how messed up his family was. He sighed. This was probably the first time the two has actually had a civil conversation. “Look at us actually talking.”
