You will get over it because you fucking have to
top 3 hobbies for young adults:
1. borrowing misery from future
2. carrying grief of the past
3. agonizing over the present
Iâm not the woman I was a few years ago or even a year ago but I still like to hold her hand and remind her she did her best with what she knew
too late I already manifested us kissing and loving each other honestly until death
does anyone like me and want to understand me
you've met me at a very "yeah i'm trying to work on that" time in my life
brought nothing to the gun fight. whatever man
"it's just stress" oh thank god, it's just the silent killer that slowly kills you, perfectly harmless, no need to worry
and if I can just say that it DID break my heart when I realized that there was no planned redemption for clark, through bits and pieces I could make out that this wasnât a pain of circumstance but instead a long imbedded story of how clark discards the people around him.
the casual dehumanization of his ex-wife, the disregard for his employees, the intimidation tactics used on his therapist, even going as far to EAT the stills. all done under the guise of âno one understandsâ where heâs coming from and how ACTUALLY he knows better than everyone else
mary was right that itâs not even about him being irredeemable or âevilâ itâs the fact that even after getting the outcomes of HIS ideas and HIS desires heâs still MISERABLE heâs still a complainer and a crybaby about how EVERYTHING happens to him, how HEâS not actually responsible for anything that goes wrong but simultaneously being the only one that knows whatâs best
him getting eaten felt like such a full circle moment like, whatâs left when everyone who couldâve possibly cared about you is no longer around? what else can you destroy? being fully engulfed by a stumbling, destructive, whiny beast that âcanât control itselfâ
itâs just how heâs wired
the backrooms lowkey made my stomach hurt I will be writing my thoughts down

the fact bear only tried to cancel his wish after being told he couldnât alter it (and, seemingly, because he was uncertain about how real nikkiâs love actually was) - instead of wanting to do that from the start, as soon as it was clear that something was wrong with nikki - makes me so, so devastated for her. itâs clear he was more concerned with what he was getting out of the wish, rather than the detrimental effect it was having. and like, everyone could tell something was up with nikki, itâs not as if it wasnât clear. him hanging up the phone as soon as nikki is out on the line (screaming) is so symbolic of how he is completely ignoring how he is ruining her life throughout the film
also letâs discuss the complacency of the customer service guy on the line, how most men who arenât awful like Bear donât really care to do anything differently other than not involve themselves
Nikki is still trapped in a veil of whatâs expected of her and what she wants, and trying to get through. And like most men confronted with female victims, he âcaresâ enough to make Bear uncomfortable but truly couldnât be MORE indifferent.
Just a complete lack of interest in her suffering and instead using her pain to tell Bear that he âwas just testing himâ complete and utter hellscape for Nikki
can I also just add that I donât know where people are getting the idea that Bear was âscaredâ at what Nikki might do and thatâs why he slept with her, he has a smug look of joy when he gets off of her the scene prior is her asking him if things are good what does the lie matter? and HE says âdoesnât matter to meâ any acquaintance, coworker, friend, partner any NORMAL person would confront the situation and ask âbut why lie?â âour relationship should be built of trust and loveâ at no point do we see Bear behave like an actual boyfriend!!!!! BEAR KNOWS HE HAS NO ACTUAL LOVE FOR NIKKI he fucks her because he knows this is the opportunity to do so he KNOWS she is not herself
I think thereâs something particularly sinister about Bear never showing any genuine concern for Nikki, not when she harms herself not when she defecated herself, he only questions to the extent of âwhy are you acting like this why are you embarrassing me?â âjust be nikkiâ. He never wanted to be her âboyfriendâ he wanted Nikki to be his girlfriend he wanted her to exist as a concept for the other Ians to look at him and think âwow how did he do it?â but having Nikki be so dependent on Bear is seen as embarrassing, childish even. And the last thing Bear wants is to be seen as cringe.
Obsession is a lot of things particularly how men are kept in a prison of menâs making and women will suffer for it
