I finished playing Pokemon Sun the other day. The story was really good. Like, proper JRPG quality.
This time, I won't die from organ failure.
The remodels need to be rigged and re-animated. I still have one more set to animate before I can get back to demo dev. Knockout and Revive anims are hard.
Finished remodeling and retexturing my player characters. Now everything fits uniformly in a 512x512 texture.
I connected all the bendy-jointy parts like thighs and shoulders, with exceptions around things like sleeves and skirts.
The neckties are their own sets of polygons that I had a fun time detailing.
Same with Olivia's braids.
Been running some shading tests. Here's one of the party members for Gunmetal Hearts, Edwin Knox.
He's part of a race called the Korora. I wanted a character with a huge cheshire cat grin, but I couldn't accomplish it with regular textures.
Also just wanted to experiment with a fat body.
Linear interpolation is so cool.
Huge, puffy dresses are a pain to model and rig.
It's gonna be a pain to animate for gameplay. 100%. But I'm excited!
Gunmetal Hearts party members.
Thinking of going back on that devlog grind.
Been working on characters and enemies for the new project: Gunmetal Hearts. It'll be a Prohibition-Fantasy RPG.
Here's two of the Player Characters that I haven't named yet.
Turns out I'm way too scared of my own shadow and can't make horror-themes for a game.
Even if SubUrban isn't actually a horror game.
Been working on new assets and a new theme, but the real tricky part- the RPG stuff- is staying. I'm pretty happy with them.
Gave everyone victory and knockout anims, and redid all of Max's animations. He has his back turned to the enemy during fights; I wanted him to come off more confident and collected against the supernatural.
Daisuke is designed to play a more Offensive Support role in combat; he doesn't hit as hard as Terry, but makes up for it with his utility. So I'm changing his Basic Attack to a two-hit punch. This will tie into a future combo mechanic that amplifies followup attacks, including spells.
It kind of feels like cheating having a mannequin be an enemy. But it's really appropriate for a mall dungeon. And for future enemies.
I unironically think I need to give them bigger boobs, though.
I love incomplete death animations.
I'm working on gathering up SFX I'll use from a pack that I bought.
And there's this set of blunt splatting impact sounds that're unsettlingly crisp and clear.
Someone on /v/ drew this and I wish I knew who. It always makes me laugh.
