Ok so I don’t know how many people know about this, but there is a program to fund the production of a realistic doll, named ‘Lammily’
I suggest you watch the video on the website for the best information, but I’ll try to sum it up.
Lammily is a doll that accurately portrays the body of an average 19 year old female. (this line alone should be a shocker, but I’ll go on)
Lammily is not overly made up. Her make-up and clothing are simple, and, in my opinion, look like they came from a real teenager’s closet. She also, in the website’s words: “Promotes a healthy lifestyle” by coming with sports clothing.
The creator of Lammily, Nickolay Lamm, says that he wishes to make more dolls; ones that portray other body types and ethnicities.
However, this cannot happen if the project is not funded.
The project goal is $95,000 and there are only—as of May 3, 2014— 29 days left for this doll to become a reality.
I’ve never asked for anything from the Tumblr community, but I’ve seen how things can go viral on here. So I’m asking, begging you: Spread this like the flu. Get anyone you know to back it, even if it’s as little as one dollar.
We could finally prove that a realistic doll would sell. We could show that we’re sick of the unrealistic body images you just can’t seem to avoid in the doll’s isle. We can make this happen.
