it’s so strange to me that people think that saying “mariah carey can’t sing like she did 30 years ago ” is like a drag. bitch YOU can’t sing like she did 30 years ago or how she did 5min ago firstly second idk why people treat singers as if their vocal chords don’t age like an olympian from 30 years ago is not gonna be able to do the same stuff they did then now so why would you think a singer is any different and also she’s very clearly earned the right to do whatever she wants because she’s Mariah NoMiddleName Carey.

it’s just really annoying that black singers (and black women in general across all fields) have to constantly be in their prime to get any sort of respect. Like you see it time after time with not only Mariah but Ciara, Janet, Brandy etc etc. if these women aren’t topping charts constantly then they according to everyone else they are flops who don’t deserve respect regardless of their contributions to the industry as a whole. Black female artist have the shortest shelf life and have to somehow be at the top of their game no matter how long they’ve been in the game and it’s like so ugly.
