Honestly one of the reasons I wanted Steve to stay in the present with the rest of his friends is just so he could be a fun cameo or side character every other movie.

They mention his name sometimes. His place is the new safe house. It stacks up on the good and unhealthy snacks when he knows people are coming by. You call him when you need to know a guy who knows a guy. People will ask him to fight and he always groans and grumbles about it. If he's not wearing pajamas, he's wearing clothes that were Bucky's three movies back. He's someone's emergency contact. He gets gray hairs. He looks happy.

How to even begin this? Today’s news was absolutely heartbreaking. Stunning. Devastating. Earth shattering. Numbing. Utterly unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much emotion over something that really has nothing to do with me. Binoe was my first wlw crackship. The first couple I truly became invested in and followed along with like they were my friends. Today it feels like something personally happened to me. That’s wildly parasocial, I know, but it completely stopped me in my tracks and utterly gutted me.

Tbh, I’m not super surprised. They haven’t appeared together in quite awhile, and when I noticed Sue wasn’t wearing her ring at the Deep Blue event, I had a bad feeling. But it’s Sue and Megan, I thought. Nothing could ever happen to them.

I think the shock we’re all feeling is bc they seemed like the stablest of stable. The perfect balance of personalities- Megan’s no filter, off the cuff energy offset by Sue’s calm, laid backness. A couple deeply in love, who pushed each other to be better- in their sports, in their activism, in their lives. They were older, had already lived a lot of life, and it seemed like the universe brought them together at the perfect time. They became super versions of themselves once they got together. Sue’s essay about Megan is one of my favorite pieces of writing. How can the author and subject of that beautifully written love letter be splitting up??!!

But I guess even the most rock solid of relationships can crack. It’s seems hard to fathom that whatever it was was enough to end them entirely. And it’s difficult to not speculate as to what happened. Did they have differing ideas on what retirement looked like? Disagreements on where to live? Did they stop making time for each other? The part of me in the bargaining phase of grief wants to think maybe they’ll find their way back to each other? Maybe this isn’t permanent?

I have a heavy, heavy heart tonite. I will continue to follow and support both of them. They are the most amazing people, and will continue to be even if they aren’t together anymore. So friends, let yourselves be sad, look thru all their sweet pics and posts about each other. It’s okay if this knocks you down a bit. That’s what happens when you have role models who mean that much.

I have rat snakes as pets. They were both bred in captivity and not wild caught so I can’t speak to that but mine are so sweet. I love them so much
