comments and reblogs about the importance of teaching government and civics, it being required in the 80s and prior, etc.

I was in civics class in 2008, and government in 2013, and I feel the need to share my own experience from a small town in Virginia, which is a blue state btw. All the students would verbally abuse & accuse the teachers of pushing liberal propaganda just from the mere act of them teaching the basic concepts in the curriculum. These kids were so deeply brainwashed by their parents / southern community that surrounded them and it was disturbing to witness.

And that was in the Obama era. I can only fucking imagine what it’s like to be in school here today and thank fucking god im not.
