So, the containment bands, or clamps, as Purah calls them, keep the Malice concentrated in one place. Think of Impa's body as the jail cell and the clamps as the bars on the door. If one of them is removed, the others become less effective. As it is, the clamps do all the work and Impa is in full control of herself, aside from feeling pretty sick and a little weak. Also, the glue holding the clamps on itches.

If one of the clamps suddenly stopped working, like one on her arm, she'd be in trouble immediately. The Malice would surge back into the limb, causing extreme pain. The other four clamps would have to compensate, reducing their effectiveness. Impa would have to actively fight the Malice from influencing her as it begins to seep into her spirit. It would affect her ability to use her clones and other abilities almost right away.

If more clamps stop working, she has to work even harder to stay herself. She'll have trouble focusing and she'll become more aggressive, both in combat and in trying to keep her mind under control. Meditation won't help, as it's her mind and spirit that are being lost. She'll need someone to talk to her to keep her grounded. if she loses control of her self for long enough, she'll start attacking her friends again. They'll have to bring her back to herself to make it stop, and each time, it gets harder.

If all the clamps stop working, she'll go back to how she was before. The gang can use the same method to contain it a second time, but the Malice learns from experience, so while it's possible, it won't be easy.

It's also worth noting that if the clamp around her neck stops working, she'll be re-infected immediately.
