one thing that i really really like abt maurice is that maurice hall’s coming to terms with his sexuality is what makes him a good person in the end. it’s what grants him freedom and nobility and strength; it makes him BETTER. he becomes kinder, more willing, more brave, all these wonderful traits that he lacks while living this repressed half-life. i love that as soon as he stops fighting his sexuality, it becomes his liberation. i love that where it could have led to suffering, it leads to fulfillment; it leads to peace. i love that his being gay is portrayed as a beautiful, pure thing. i love that he eschews society and lives in the woods with his life partner!!! i love that they’re based on a real life couple. i love it. i lOVE IT>. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH.
