Jean maneuvered quickly with her through the halls, trying to look straight ahead as he once again was making sharp turns. He repeatedly reached back for her arm as the two circled about, avoiding hazmat people and convulsive bodies. Jean gripped his baseball bat tighter in his right hand and was ready to swing if anyone wanted to try and stop them.
âWhatever you do, donât look downâŚâ He said, but he wasnât even following his own rule.
His eyes widened with horror as reanimation set into these supposedly âdeadâ people. They were writhing in an animalistic manner and grabbing on to the nearest living person, biting down with such power that the flesh literally was torn clean off. His stomach did somersaults and almost leapt with all its contents out of his esophagus.
All of this suddenly changed when Jean felt cold, dead fingers pry his ankle from beneath him and made him fall flat on his side. He thought he had twisted his ankle, but it was really only this powerful grip of thisâŚzombie? The eyes of this thing were bloodshot and golden, veins bulging out of them as if ready to burst. It snapped its jaws at him, but he smashed it in the head with his bat, playing and watching enough videogames and movies gave him the knowledge to know where to hit themâhopefully all those developers and directors were rightâŚ
Thankfully, the girl was still okay as he noted that the dead thing wasnât fighting back anymore, but stillâŚthat wasâŚa person. Jeanâs face contorted with mixed emotions and horror as he looked behind them and saw themâŚwalkingâŚ
There was a utilities closet nearby ahead. Rushing onward with her, he barged into it since it was clear. The two of them stuffed themselves inside it as an onslaught of zombies chased this poor boy down the halls. Jean recognized him, but was ready to shut the doorâthere was not enough roomâŚ
âWAIT! PLEASE!â the boy shouted as a zombie sunk its jaws into the side of his face and yanked his right cheek clean off.
Jean hesitated for a moment to shut the door, looking to Mikasa for some sort of guidance. This was too much: the zombies were closing in, the boy was swarmed, the dead were walking, and his whole life seemed to be collapsing in front of himâŚ
Nice day at school, right?
They had been running through the halls like their life depended on it, at this point she wasn't so sure if that was a bad thing though. She was gasping in horror at the people rising up even though they were supposed to be dead. The life was drained from their faces, eyes had an unnaturally golden color, and they just looked .. Dead. Apart from the fact they apparently weren't.
Mikasa had to suppress a scream that nearly escaped through her mouth as Jean fell on the floor seeing a dead person hold on to him while making animal like noises.. No, it didn't even sound like an animal. All she was sure of was that it was trying to bite him. Not sure of what to do she stood there watching Jean smash in the persons head, blood splashed all over the floor from the impact. He had looked over at her just as horrified as she felt. He had taken her arm and started dragging her along again. She ran as hard as her legs could carry her trying to keep up with Jean not noticing a boy had been running behind them getting chased by the dead until he called for help. She regretted looking back, she really did. Jean was pulling her into a closet while the boy was calling out to them, calling out for help. The door of the closet closed as she was hearing the boy scream in agony as the dead started to tear him apart.
It didn't take long before the screams died down. Standing a little awkward in the utilities closet she looked up at the taller boy. " If we tried to save him we would've died. " she tried to console him. " the dead were too close to him anyways, we wouldn't have been able to save him. "
We shouldn't dwell on the past.
The boy was still looking lost and in shock, there was something she had to do. She looked around the utilities closet trying to figure out what she could use as a weapon, this was not the time and the place to break down, they had to get out of there, fast. She found an utility knife which she had taped to a broom so she could use it as a spear, it didn't look that good but it'd hold for now.
" Get yourself together. " she grabbed the boys shoulder and shook him lightly. " We need to find a way out of here. "
