Have you ever donated blood?
Whenever I tell people I’m donating blood they seem to either tell me why they can’t (there are lots of reasons people can’t!) or just act like it’s something they’ve never known anyone to do. So have you?
Yes
No

Spicy-brained friends, I would like to propose an update to the very useful ‘if you hate everyone, eat, if everyone hates you, sleep, and if you hate yourself, shower’ mantra to live by
Have you suddenly become a petty, hateful little gremlin who thinks people should face the firing squad for (checks notes) leaving teabags on the counter, breathing loudly, or daring to exist in the same space as you? Perhaps mundane and reasonable requests like ‘hey, we agreed to hang out now, let’s hang out’ make you want to scream and move to a yurt in the woods.
You. Are. Overstimulated.
People talk a lot about being overstimulated, and the physical/mental effects of it. What I haven’t seen is people talking about what it does emotionally, and it took me an embarassingly long time to link up those nitpicky, resentful emotions with the state of overstimulation/meltdown/shutdown.
These feelings do not mean that you’re a bad person! They probably aren’t how you actually feel about the people around you. They probably do mean that your nervous system is at its absolute limit and any request/demand/stimulus is Too Much and taking you into fight or flight territory.
Go lie down in a dark room for an hour, or find somewhere safe and familiar to stim for a bit. If it’s happening a lot, schedule yourself regular low-stimulation shutdown time
Signed: someone who moved in with their nearest and dearest only to have a massive crisis of faith about Suddenly Hating All of Them. I don’t hate them, it’s just overstimulating living with people. If I can spare anyone else a similar 9 months of suspecting that they may actually be a bit of a shit person, then this post is worth it!
Quick, someone think of an R so we can make it HARLOT. I find harlots delightfully memorable.
Maybe ‘restless’? Sometimes you just gotta Go Outside
If you feel like you want to remove your own skin and removing stimuli from your environment hasn’t worked, then you might be Restless and need to Move Around?
Yeah! Understimulation is also a nasty fucker
The fuck happening w egg prices? You know what don’t even answer I don’t care lower that shit now
Egg producers' profit margins are soaring as Americans struggle to keep up with price hikes, Farm Action said in a letter to the FTC.
🤔
Soft reminder to look in your community and see if there's a source for farm fresh eggs near you if possible! Their prices will be much more reasonable
Oh bippo!
Ok, so this is a callout post for EstablishedTitles.com
As a Scottish person, I need to say this:
ESTABLISHED TITLES IS A SCAM!
You cannot become a Lord/Lady in Scotland by owning land of any size. The title of Lord or Lady are titles of Peers in the House of Lords, who are members of the House of Lords, the Upper House of the British Parliament. You get a peerage by donating a fucktonne of money to the Tory party being appointed as such by the British Government, not by owning Land in Scotland. If owning land was enough to get you a peerage, my parents would be Lord and Lady Stabbii. They are not. In fact my Dad is banned from any official honours.
There are better ways to support tree planting, rewilding or natural landscape projects in Scotland, namely by donating to either the National Trust for Scotland or the Scottish Wildlife Trust. Both of these charities are trusted, well established and reliable charities that carry out rewilding, tree planting and nature conservation all over Scotland. If you want a cool title, make one yourself.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Op please you can't just breeze right over that bit about your dad you have to explain further
Okay so the Long and short of it was when my dad was a civil servant he walked out with the Nurses on a wildcat strike. He didn't even work for the NHS, he just walked out in solidarity with them and he got told that as punishment he could not get any official honours.
the fact that you can press b to cancel a pokemons evolution is so funny to me. like imagine a butterfly about to emerge from a chrysalis and you just put your hand on it like ‘shhh. buddy. not yet’ and its like ‘aww ok’ n climbs back in and zips itself up like a sleeping bag
elijah if you keep outfunnying me on my own posts like this im gonna be out of a job soon
Hello yacht = hell yeah
If you like frogs. Or possums. Or cool builds. Or happiness. This is the video for you.
TERRIBLE news for fussy and crabby kitty cats. you are going to be kissed. you are going to be loved
Allistic people really need to stop phrasing requests as questions because it's fucking with me
"Do you want to help me cook dinner?"
No, I'm still overwhelmed from earlier and want to stay in my room.
"well fine, dinner will be ready when it's done." And now they're upset with me
And I'm just here like ???????
Oh God I hate it when they frame it like that because it sounds like a choice, but if you say no they get all offended. It’s an illusion of choice and it’s so annoying.
If I ever ask something, it’s an offer, not a demand. “Hey, wanna watch a movie with me? No? Okay, I’ll go watch it, you chill here and I hope you feel better.”
I can't count the times I got in trouble because of that as a kid while never having any idea what exactly I did wrong.
Those requests with only one correct response disguised as questions with multiple answers just made me think I couldn't actually say "no" to anything (because I had no idea which ones were the secret requests), something I still have trouble to this day.
Also when they just make an observation but they expect you to know that they’re asking for something. Like “Oh the trash can is pretty full.” But they really mean “Could you take the trash out?” Just fuckign say what you mean 😒
Here's the thing. They've literally been trained since childhood to do it this way, and probably do not realize that what they're saying can be interpreted another way. It's an Ask vs Guess problem. In particular, a lot of women are taught to phrase things is a Guess way. The way they were taught to speak, they are saying what they mean.
If you want someone in your life to switch from Guess to Ask with you, then you need to have a discussion with them, Ask them to meet you somewhere in the middle on this, possibly explain the difference in cultures, definitely explain, "When you say $THING, it does not mean to me what it means to you", and then understand that it will take them time and work to change, and that you may need to be an active participant in that change. You can do this by remembering that things do not mean the same to them that they do to you, and, when they say, "Do you want to cook dinner with me?" replying with, "Are you asking me to do that, or are you asking me if I'd like it?"
Yes, I understand that this will be hard for you also. You and this person in your life will both need to work on this, together, and be forgiving of one another.
This is not something the other person is intentionally doing to you, or at you. They are speaking as they were taught to speak, that's all. It happens to conflict with your neurodivergence. That happens. It can be dealt with.
The other problem with this is that if you're raised like this, it teaches you from a young age that you are not allowed to say no when people "ask" you to do things.
Because there's the illusion of choice, right? But unlike normal situations, there is only one right choice, so there's actually NO choice at all.
So you have people trained to hear a "request" and to feel in their gut that they cannot say no, because if they do, people will get mad.
