Dirt Donât Hurt
2016
Made this as a friendly reminder to get out and get your hands in the dirt this summer. Plant some seeds, grow some food! Inspired by Katelyn Hale.
OK Pottery
Just started working on my craft as a potter. Here are some photos of my most recent creations starting with (above) a small succulent pot, rock shaped salt and pepper shakers, a flower vase, a cookie jar, and (below) three bowls, and two succulent planters.Â

Soft Transformation
6/2015
Last summer I lived in this beautiful house for a couple weeks as part of a residency called âSoft Selfâ. As the first artist in the space part of my work was to transform the space in to a self healing comfortable space for future residents.Â
I sanded the walls the frames, primed and painted, lowered the bed frame, scrubbed the mold, sanded the closets and repainted, re-tiled the closet floors, built and hung shelves, and re- made the drop ceiling.
Here are some close ups:
Wallpapered drop ceiling.
Installed a small hanging shelf above the desk.
Sun Zones
Working on a new project with the awesome and inspiring curiocityprinting. A stop motion cyano-mation about the forrest and itâs sensitivities and sexualities.Â
Cyan Oh!Â
July 15-17, 2015
Just returned from teaching a group of kiddos how to make cyanotypes. Aside from the frequent side tracked conversations about whether or not I had a girlfriend or what color my car is (I don't have a car) it went swimmingly. I had five students and we were each able to make 4 cyanotypes, 2 polaroids, and 1 shirt.Â
Lessons learned?
Teaching is very hard.
Cyanotypes are so much fun.
Blueprint to Cyanotypes
July 15-17, 2015
This week Iâm heading to coast of Oregon to teach a Cyanotype class to a bunch of kiddos! We are going to play around with printing things from nature, drawing on transparencies, and making t-shirts, complete with 30 minutes set aside for a good old fashioned âshow-and-tellâ.Â
Get ready to harness the power of the SUN.
Soft Self Regards
June 15-29, 2015
Dear Future Residents,
I have scrubbed, sanded, swept, painted, and decorated the space you will inhabit in the weeks to come. Feel free to continue to transform the room and add or subtract whatever will make you comfortable. Also, Teahouse Kuan Yin is a nice quiet place to get some work done. Enjoy!
Dear Lauren,Â
You are most magical. Thank you for the space to calmly create and explore this beautiful city. You are doing a great thing here!
Dear Self,Â
Feel proud of the work you have created in this space and keep up the momentum when you return to Portland. This project and all the other projects on the tip of your tongue are totally worthwhile!
Over A Lake
June 28, 2015
As part of the âYou Beginâ project I tapped in to one of my favorite activities, building miniature sets. This scene in the final project is only going to last about two seconds, but it was totally worth it.Â
Using mostly materials found around the neighborhood I was able to build this set with a low budget and I got to spend some quality time with the wind and the sun.
Youâre Just My Cyanotype
June 27, 2015
Today we totally turned the tiny holographic bathroom* in to a two person, art producinâ, darkroom. Laurenâs plan is to eventually cyan the entire living room drop ceiling so today was a kind of âIntroductory to Cyanotypesâ which is perfect because I will be teaching this same technique to a bunch of kiddos in a couple weeks.
Results:
*Did I mention the entire bathroom is coated in a fine layer of holographic wallpaper? Itâs like a disco party every time you shower.Â

Accidental Parade Day
June 21, 2015
Apparently for Seattle the Summer Solstice is a really big deal and they throw this giant parade with floats and naked bikers and it lasts hours and hours and ends in Gasworks Park which just happens to be right down the street from my residency and I accidentally got caught up in it while trying to meet Miranda. But I did find this really cool marching band that was covering Nirvana and wearing these really great signs.Â
In other news:
I finally acquired a globe for the world scene in my video project:
Time to get it all dolled up and glittered before the big shoot.Â
