Another night of a restless mind.
We enter this world blind, naked, crying, bloody, defenseless human beings. Breathing, making noise, walking and eating are all we can innately do. We are genetically constructed into a new phenotype of our mother and father, who are or were new versions of their mothers and fathers, so on and so forth. Nature. In my opinion, the first image that we see, the first sound that we hear, the first texture that we touch, the first scent that we smell, the first substance that we taste, and the first sound that we try to form to communicate wth another human being alter our state of mind. These instances form and assemlbe our personalities into unique forces that directly and indirectly affect our surroundings, as our surroundings affect us. Nurture.
What separates us from all other species still baffles me. Is it our opposable thumbs? No, old world monkeys and great apes have those too. We are relatively weak creatures with inefficient posture. I suppose our brains and the use of our brains to manipulate our surroundings to suit our needs are the most feasible conclusions that make sense to me. We overuse, overkill, over eat, under appreciate, overpopulate, and overstimulate every aspect of our environment. Yet we will never overcome the external forces of the Earth, the Moon, our solar system, and the interstellar forces of our universe. The known and unknown history of our biological race is extraordinarily minute. Many have pondered, as I have, why we strive to exist and be remembered.
Although we are just a semi-colon in a run-on sentence from a never-ending book, we experience life. We experience pain, joy, happiness, laughter, heartbreak, love, depression, anger, hunger, jealousy, passion, desire, pride, and whatever other emotions there are. We have created and destroyed, created and destroyed, again and again, incredible civilizations and infrastructures. We live by years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, and within every second, we breathe, learn, and feel. We are shaped into who we are, and we strive to experience and learn to become something more, something unknown. We exist because we live, and we cease to exist when we have nothing to live for.
