I’m honestly not surprised that I need to make this post but a while ago my mutual @/fuegobuoyant who is also my close friend irl had made a post about the harmful and degrading stereotypes black fem readers receive in fan fiction and before we had these accounts we had satirical accounts made to criticize and critique those stereotypes in black reader fanfics. Now I will admit the way that we did it may have came across distasteful and uncomfortable but I’m still positive that this is needed for people to truly see how it feels to be depicted in such ways. Over the past few months we received death threats, doxxing threats, and so much more that is still currently amplifying this week. Unfortunately that is not all, when we made our normal accounts to rant and talk about the stereotypes of black women in fiction we somehow still got hate from the same exact people who had an issue with our satire account’s as well. Now I really hope some of y’all understand just how hypocritical that is. You can’t get mad at us for complaining and criticizing black reader fanfics then turn around and get mad at our satire accounts that are so painful obvious that black people own the accounts and are literally trying show you how some people get away with stereotyping in their fics. This is not an excuse or a way to make you guys feel bad because I kinda don’t care what you guys think about the satire accounts but to contradict yourself and get mad at both of our accounts wether they are normal complaints and criticism or just pure stereotypes. Anyway if this finds the people who know about the accounts and still have an issue with it I don’t know what to tell you to be honest just know that we are black and had no intention of hurting nor harming our community we just wanted to show y’all how we are constantly depicted in negative and stereotypical ways in media, specifically black reader fanfic. (You can look at my rants on this account for context if needed)

so mind you, the engagement devils did their thing. no one was ever supposed to “find” the accounts, but that’s just what engagement does. it never exclusively was parody of black reader if you scroll down, it was fics that make us laugh. lallygagging and what not. on one silly day, we were doing our evening yaps and brought up how back in the day, black reader was so inaccurate and there was overused traits such as reader being in her bonnet, wigs, etc. we wondered if that was still going on, so we searched and sure enough our hypothesis was correct. in need of laughter, we made a parody of the overused ideas we saw back then and now. sure, it could’ve ended there, but it kept going. aroused by reactions? maybe. aroused by laughter? also maybe. it was never abt harming black community, just parodying. I would compare it to SNL/Scary Movie/Literally all 2000s flicks, but I know they won’t take it lightly. my black women and men should not be “intaking harmful stereotypes” from my fics as they are parody and there are many good blogs out there in which they will find themselves. I am a black woman who has seen all stereotypes. hurt people hurt people I guess…but I’m not really hurt— It’s kind of hilarious. hilarious to laugh off stereotypes and twist it into something lighter that could very well be interpreted as satire but apparently it’s not obvious. black writers should definitely not feel the need to cater, but sort of feel the tug to make sure fics are inclusive. one thing about that is if you take part in an already established, stereotypical, toxic trope, it’s either ‘I love this’ or ‘…hm. this needs to be more inclusive.’ however when the many get on here and express their distaste for repeated tropes, it’s always ‘you’re hogging up the tags’ ‘seek and ye shall find (in a bitchy tone, less bible tone.)’ ‘write it urself’ ‘black writers shouldn’t have to do this; it’s either for you or it’s not’ that’s cool. I understand the annoyance with hogged tags, the annoyance with the lazy seeking, the annoyance with readers tending to feel ‘entitled’ to having something fit their personality. you can only imagine how those double standards are working in my parody. you are feeling hot and bothered me reheating the nachos of what I’ve experienced, yet when it’s the upper hand black writers doing the same shit to those who complain…crickets, maybe. I’m prolly just hurt. we never even knew anything about this app nor how to get attraction nor how to trigger anyone. in our debut, we were still getting hated on for doing a simple thing like putting architecture in a stupid fic 😭😭 a stupid, NON BLACK READER fic. then I got anon harassed and they said my account was fucking cringe BEFORE the black reader fics 😭✌️

I won’t hog up the tags with this rant because ion want them to fucking jump me like they did last time. all I’m trying to say is do NOT take me seriously. I was seriously supposed to stay a NICHE account. maybe if it feels too real, that’s on me and I need to figure out if it’s lallygag or actual internalized racism. I am sick. I was gonna say ‘maybe I am sick’, but I am sick. forgive me or don’t, attack me or don’t, report me or don’t, block me or don’t, please don’t forget to move on. maybe I should move on too. one day, I will. until I squeeze the leftover water from the rag, I will keep washing. honestly, I promote you getting me banned. I'll never forget how in like 2022-2023, i pointed out the obvious that it was odd that every single x black reader on the market had to depict black women as ghetto baby mommas that only dated scammers, drug dealers, or just generally toxic men where we were in situations where we were in an endless cycle of struggle love. just saying that it was odd that that was all we were reduced to, especially in anime x black reader where they hands Asian men, but specifically, Japanese men using ebonics like ma and mama. taking bout drug deals and spraying n****s down as odd they are not Japanese, and was quickly confronted with the realization that they like the struggle love trope because i was called everything but a child of God on this app. i was told i was white behind the screen, a biracial with a white mom, and coon. I'm pretty sure i received actual threats and it was brutal to see and feel, but it's just so crazy cause 3-4 years later and the tides have turned. now you can say it's odd without being called slurs with just a mild disagreement now and people just think it's moreso funny and/ or ridiculous to see eren from aot calling you ma🤣🤣🤣

Back again and now I hope yall now know what I mean by enablers in the black reader side of tumblr. Nobody is saying that there aren’t any diverse black reader fics out there. What we are saying is that they are too hard to find I should not have to dig for fucking gold to get a decent fic where I am not being stereotyped/ characterized as something I am not (also I am talking about POPULAR fics in my complaints. some ppl recommend me authors which I appreciate but some of the work is not well written and is not a fandom I read fan fiction for but it is still appreciated nonetheless.) Black reader is supposed to be for black ppl who don’t get representation in plain reader fics because they are very clearly for white readers. Please stop acting like I’m sending a personal attack on you because I say I don’t like how I and many other black ppl are portrayed in reader fics. I say this all the time but there is nothing wrong with fitting stereotypes but that still doesn’t make them less harmful and hurtful to others such as myself. Lastly stop acting like we don’t have the right to complain about this shit. Most ppl love saying “block” or “report” but go on to reblog and interact with our complaints and rants to invalidate us with their complaints which is literally the stupidest shit I’ve seen on here because they say we shouldn’t be complaining!! Actual last thing: the person who inspired this rant told my friend they shouldn’t use the black reader tag bc it “takes up space for fics” but why wouldn’t she use that tag for a rant ab black reader..? Pls make it make sense.. They were also rude for no reason tagging #stfu when my friend was way sweeter than me making her rant but that is another issue for another day. We’ve got enough struggle fics, can we produce love please?

hai, you definitely don’t know me, but this is my secondary account. On my primary account, I’ve been partaking in a social experiment where I over exaggerate the stereotypes I’ve seen in all of the black!reader fics. It has been very interesting to see people get mad when I always sort of debrief at the bottom of my page and always say something sarcastic like ‘this is EXACTLY what black reader wants…’ I would love to see the anger they give me and my friend who also partakes in this experiment reciprocated on the post that glorify the stereotypes, but everyone seems to go silent until it’s blatantly obvious it’s not right.

For example, a lot of the posts I do involve making black!reader a baby momma BECAUSE it seems like every black!reader fic I’ve seen (and it’s not even limited to fiction, in real life too) black women are always painted as some sort of baby momma who is ghetto. There’s almost always never any black!reader who’s awkward coded like myself in real life, no black!reader who’s maybe a queer black man, no black!reader who has the same regular interests as any other normal y/n character because it’s always about breeding and leaving. I also notice how in the smut (or pornography), it’s always about beating the pussy up. It’s SO rare to find a tender smut fic or a tender xxx because the ones that are tender have some sort of bogus caption that makes it ungoonable such as captions like “daddy had to take care of his baby’s psy” “she wanted this big black cock” “I had to breed her real quick” it’s bullshit and it’s so disgusting!

I can’t tell if the writer is white or not because most fics, black!reader is limited to having box braids, silk presses, or buss down wigs. That’s great if that represents you, but I fail to see fics that glorify the crown that is your Afro…or to just be neutral and say ‘natural hair’. Again, I’m definitely not bashing the use of describing black!reader to have braids because I lovee getting braids, but I’m saying we’ve got to extend beyond that stereotype. While on the topic of stereotypes, I also over exaggerate black!reader being thick in my fics because again, that’s the stereotype I always see. The fics always describe our butts as ‘voluptuous’ our thighs as ‘huge’ or our tummies as ‘squishy’. Why can’t we just be excellent? Also, not all black!readers..are THICK! I myself am not thick…I have a NORMAL size ass and a skinty bod. But that’s almost never represented.

Black reader deserves the same hobbies that regular, white y/n has. “Y/N is the real Barbie” but where’s the black Barbie’s that actually do something other than clubbing, partying, drinking, smoking, etc. If you do these things, perfect…you’ve got your representation. But where’s the black!readers who play instruments, sing, draw, dance, work out, do SOMETHING than just being sedentary to become some Asian man’s baby mother.

You know, I actually just wish black!reader wouldn’t be so stereotypical. I wish black!reader would A. Correctly use AAVE just so we can have THAT as something relatable B. The words to describe her wouldn’t be leaning towards one stereotype that’s been passed down generations after generations C. RECEIVE TENDER LOVE AND NOT JUST ROUGH SEX and oh my gosh how can I forget D. Having an Asian man call her ma. Where did this come from? Why is an Asian man calling me ma/mama just because I’m black? Why can’t I be called baby, darling, sweetheart, literally all the other things that yt readers are called. It just seems like we’re limited to ma which also ties into the neeeddddd for more tender love. So, nonetheless I will still be continuing my social experiment. My friend and I have recently had threats to ban us from the platform because of the over exaggeration we do…and don’t get me wrong, we tend to go pretty extreme. but through this, we hope to make everyone more aware of the bullshit so we can look out for other fics that are just so fucking stereotypical and through our fics, yes, I definitely agree you should see the bullshit, get angry, and start to curate more loving fics. Some may not agree with this method, but honestly we just do it to make each other giggle with our stupidity.

@rynfiles also writes for the jjk fandom. Black reader and isn’t stereotyping.

@loonatears writes for the dc fandom. Also black reader. Also a amazing writer

@h3avenlyglory another amazing writer, has a variety of fics on their account. Black reader. Creative. Isn’t stereotypical or writes black woman as ghetto

See how I just gave you author after author that writes black woman as the amazing smart and Beautiful woman we are. YOUR account and YOUR page reflects what YOU read and who YOU follow and interact with. Maybe you should start reporting and blocking these people instead of doing nothing but complain and add to the problem. Because you making an account and doing the exact same thing as a “experiment” doesn’t exactly solve the issue at all. In fact you’re adding to it and giving these people more reason to continue doing what their doing.

Not to mention you complain about this shit while also tagging plug! Whoever…….. make it make sense. Cause the jokes are writing themselves atp.

Hey girl um you don’t have to be an asshole about valid complaints about back reader fics. Anyone can use any kind of tag they want so their post can be pushed out to ppl who agree and relate. So using your logic you can scroll as well. I genuinely cannot stand this app especially the black reader side. Every time you bring up valid criticism and or complaints about how the reader is with a plug, baby father, or god forbid a literal PIMP! You get called racist, white, or they say you aren’t being inclusive or fair to anyone who’s gone through that and to that I have to say why tf are you making black reader?! Why are you grouping black women as a whole to fit a giant stereotype??

Another issue is the characteristics of the black reader. Why are our body types always automatically thick or plus sized?? I get most are built that way but like come on why is that the default in describing a reader that supposed to fit a whole demographic of black women? (To specify I am not talking about fics that say thick or plus size in the tags or cw I’m talking about the ones automatically making us thick and plus sized with no warnings what so ever.) And don’t get me started on how they describe plus sized bodies in the most fetishized way.

My last issue is the characters who are not black using AAVE and being very stereotypical parts of the black community. Why the hell is Toji calling us ma? Why is Choso dealing weed?
