“Political shipping”, I want to call it - shipping a couple because they represent a sexual or racial minority and then accusing anyone who ships the white or the straight alternative of being against that minority…

somehow forgetting, in the process, that shipping is usually about personality and relationship dynamic.

There’s nothing wrong with shipping a ship because you want to see a non-straight or non-white couple. That’s a fine reason. The weird part is then thinking that anybody who doesn’t ship it is also basing their decision on the presence of that particular minority, rather than just… the way the characters interact with each other.
