i've been steadily getting notes for that Gay Murray™ post all day, i'm laughing so hard that this random ass post from 10 years ago is suddenly getting attention and even fan art, anon from a decade ago i hope you in particular have a great pride month
(also shootout to @broken-clover for adding the tags that started this all and @freelance-magic for the fan art, took me tf out lol)
"I think what doesn't work for me in Sly 4 when playing is the color scheme of the environments. Call me crazy, but in the original trilogy, the maps had a limited color palette, generally two or three characteristic colors that you automatically associated with a particular level, which is why it was so significant (Paris was dark blue, India yellow, Prague black, Venice yellow as well, etc.). In Sly 4, with the exception of the prehistoric level, the maps have too many contrasts and colors, whether it's details, decorations, or things that are important but don't seem so because, again, with such vibrant colors, everything seems important. I don't know if it was due to the limitations of the PS2 or if it was intentional, but while playing, I couldn't shake the feeling that I didn't like the world I was exploring, and even if I try I can't remember any of them while I can tell you every way of entering raja's palace (although maybe it's just me)."
"I learned that the "Hopping Vampires" are actually a known mythical thing, called Jiangshi. Just a little thing I find interesting. (I learned that from Cookie Run of all places. From one of the costumes.)"
"In terms of narrative potential, Sly could've had a 2nd life as a comic book series. After all, Sonic The Hedgehog showed off what you could do with that kind of medium--though that may vary depending on who you ask."
"Here's a sad thought: Weren't Bentley and Penelope living together for a while by the start of Sly 4? Bentley has to return to their house after the end of the game. After Penelope violated his trust and stomped on his heart. Now he has to go back to their house with all of her things and be constantly reminded of her. And while still searching for Sly, whose disappearance is partially her fault for helping Le Paradox."
"Personally, I don't like how Sly (and some other characters) have such strong jawlines. It strays too far away from their animal characteristics. I think Sly is more attractive when he's drawn with a snoot like a real raccoon. For example, Alfafilly's Sly design."
