#Slydigs on Tour - 4
Are you sitting comfortably? ...Then I'll begin!
I write from the confines of our transport, reluctantly attempting to wipe away the condensation from the window to reveal the enigmatic beauty of the Spanish midnight sky. We've done in excess of 7,000 miles in travel - and that's just in mainland Europe.
Germany was special. We played 4 shows there in total and every one had its own characteristic. What's great to see is people that have followed us for a while had finally got the chance to see us live, so of course we had to put on a show! Every song was met with raucous applause which is overwhelming taking into consideration that the majority of the crowd have never heard us!
Switzerland has one of the most beautiful venues we've ever played. Milan reminded me of one of our hometown shows. Tight venue, rammed to the rafters with everyone eagerly awaiting entertainment - they got it both barrels from both bands!
Paris for me was a special moment. Not only for the obvious reasons of recent events but to be invited to join Vintage Trouble on stage for 'Not Alright By Me' in honour of recent events, will stay with me for a long time. I will always have an infinite affiliation with Paris - there's something that lingers in the air that my heart and soul is immediately drawn to. It's hard to describe really, there's a longing to belong in Paris!
Antwerp had its own memorable response and I got to catch something new of Vintage Trouble in terms of performance, which I have to say was fucking excellently delivered. They each have their own special way of proving why they’re one of the best live bands around today! Musically, charismatically they are up there with the best - fucking globally! And I don't say that lightly.
The gigs have been simply enlightening and I'm proud to say that we've hit each one with everything we have. We have met some beautiful people and the crowds have accepted us with open arms. We owe a great deal of gratitude to the crew that have helped us so far, the Vintage Trouble gang and last but not least the fans. The new fans and the old fans that care for us, that believe in us and make this whole thing all worthwhile. To you we owe it all!
The next four days will see us play the last four gigs of the tour in Spain which hopefully will finish off our experience on a high. Moreover, it's Pete’s birthday so some celebrations are in order! I'm pretty sure by Bilbao (our last show) we won't want to be returning home but we will be, with smiles on our faces and with the recent past experiences playing over in our minds. Let's not start getting nostalgic too soon, we still have 4 more gigs to smash, and we're just as excited as we were for the very first gig of the tour! Anyway I digress, onwards and upwards - the steam train’s in full flow and there ain't no sign of it slowing down!
I'll let you know how we get on kids!
Peace & Love
