Press Conference, by Harold Pinter
Performed at Cours Florent (Paris)
In the role of Minister
Exciting experience, working on contrasting emotions.
This was my first time working exclusively with english text. Harold Pinter’s short play is a dystopian monologue of an authoritarian minister of culture during a press conference. Bursting with energy, the writing made me play with my inner anger and evil. During the second part of my speech, I put my actions against my emotions. My hands put a girl on the ground, my feet kick her in the stomach but my face tries to show delight and charm. This portrayal possibly shows the contradiction in modern day politics.
