So I've always been one of those girls who never ever wore makeup; I could even say that I hated the institution of makeup.Â
I will say that I was lucky enough to have relatively even skin tone, not very breakout prone skin, so makeup such as foundation and concealer had no interest to me. But as time passed and I grew older I realized that there was a lot more to makeup than just covering up. It can be used to enhance and even embrace parts of your face.Â
So at the tender age of 21 I decided to jump into the drugstore makeup world (mind you I'm in college so high end makeup..no one has funds for that).
Here's a few things that I've learned:
You can wear two different types of mascara's. I have asian eyelashes meaning they are short and not very voluminous, being able to get a mascara for lengthening and then another volume and them working together= mind blowingÂ
Filling in your eyebrows is a a game changer. It doesn't matter if you already have pretty good shape and colour, filling those suckers will change the way you look at yourself in the mirror. It's awesome.
There are way to many lip colours and things to chose from, I mean a crayon? Pencil? Matte? Shimmer? But oh my gosh its so much fun, I easily have 20 different lip products.Â
It's incredibly difficult to match your skin tone to foundation..so I cheat and use mineral foundation (when I use it) and then I can fudge it darker.Â
Contouring is a huge freaking mystery. What do you mean I can just stick this under my cheekbones and then blend and it'll look like I have cheekbones? Um highlighter is concealer/blush/foundation? okay. I'm lostÂ
I'm still trying to figure out what works for me but it's been a lot of fun. Trying to figure out things like...what is a normal day to day look for me? What all do I even want to commit to every day? It's all so confusing but at least I'm learning. :).Â

I may have talked my roommate into getting a kitty with me for our apartment. So we are going kitty hunting this weekend. Yay for life's little victories. :D

Stuck
in Waco with nothing to do, because everyone else left town. Not exactly how I envisioned spending my Labor Day Weekend. Awesome.Â
the thing about this generation is we’ve been put down by every major news station and outlet as the “self-absorbed generation"; we’ve been criticised for being too reliant on technology, on self-image, on our parents’ money, on tax dollars, on our own government we’ve been…
I need feminism because a woman has to stand for 13 hours, can not eat, can not drink, can not stop speaking, can not relieve herself, and can not have assistance with a back brace just to prove to a group of predominantly men that we need our reproductive rights.

Tattoo Love
I have a tattoo, and I am looking to get my second one. For some reason the fact that I have a tattoo and love it seems to surprise people. They always exclaim "You are the last person I would expect to have one!" I am always surprised by this response. Why is this surprising? Is it because tattoos have a bad reputation?Â
I will be one of the first to admit that I don't think getting a tattoo because it is "cool" or "fun" is a good enough reason to get one. But when people see that I have a star on my ankle and that I want a dragon on my shoulder they look at me suspiciously. Are you sure you aren't doing it for the wrong reasons?Â
I don't have a tattoo and want another tattoo for other people, they are for me and me alone. They are a permanent reminder of where I come from and where I am going. I wasn't dating someone when I got my first one so I did it without regard to another's opinion. But I am now, and it is something we have talked about. He isn't a fan of tattoo's but he fully supports me getting mine because of my reasons.
I have an outline of a star on my ankle because it reminds me that not everything is on this earth, there is space and the stars that we don't quite understand. It also reminds me that not everything is as it seems. The stars we see today may not be there anymore. These are things I need to remember as I go forward with my life and meet new people. And my feet is what takes me there.
The tattoo I am currently planning is a tribal chinese dragon tattoo for my shoulder. This tattoo reminds me of my family. My mother was born in the year of a dragon. I am getting a dragon with wings instead of claws because my father and I joke that I used my wings to get to the next stages of my life. I have some friends that joke that I have a dragon's attitude in life. Dragons are also considered good luck and fortune. I want it on my right shoulder because that is my dominant arm which is what supports me. And my family has always done that. I want it on my back because this is my past and where I came from, it is now behind me.
My tattoos represent the past (dragon), the future (the star), and as for the present? I am the present. The guy I am dating says that that is a rather poetic response. But isn't that what tattoos are? They represent you.Â
I love my tattoos but I don't think I will ever get more than two, because the past, present, and future is all we truly have.Â
