Small Pets Matter Too

Hello! Creme Solaire speaking! But my hooman and friends just call me Solaire. My name means sunscreen in French... yeah, my hooman is weird, I know! This is my blog until it's time for someone else to take it over. Until then my human promises to cherish me and give me a wonderful life - which she will share with all of you. Currently, my roommate is Velvet. You'll be seeing her too. Remember; if you own a rat, it's CRUEL to own only one. You should always have at least two SAME GENDER rats (that get along) in the same cage. Rats are such intelligent and social animals that they become depressed if alone. That's why my human makes sure I always have a rattie roommate.

I am so mad. The puppies (3 of them, each 9 weeks old), were let out of the kitchen by my brother while I was at work. Shortly before that, Velvet must have found a way out of the cage because unfortunately one of the puppies was found with her in their mouth. She did not make it... RIP Velvet. Puppies are A LOT of work. And too few people understand that. To some, the pups only killed a rat. For me, they killed a pet. It makes me mad that my brother didnt realize they needed to be watched closely just like an infant child. Puppies require A LOT of time, energy and patience. They need a lot of devotion. If you're not prepared, dont get a puppy, get a dog. While a dog needs a lot still, they need only about a third of what a puppy needs. You DONT need a puppy to bond with you or respect you. A GROWN dog will love, respect, bond with you and obey you same as a puppy you raise. A grown dog CAN and WILL change so DONT listen to "it's all about how they're raised." because that is VERY FALSE. It's about how they're treated in the moment and the training and time they're given. A disobedient and timid dog can quickly, even immediately, become an obedient and outgoing dog with a good owner. Never forget that.
