tldr theyre saying "youre either one or the other, pick one" and if you want to be "half-" anything u now have to "reflavour" the races, aka homebrew it. which also means all existing "half-" race lore is gone, all half-elf, half-drow, half-orc, etc, lore has been removed from canon. at least for the newest player handbook

I am mixed Costa Rican and European. It really is a weird existence when you can "pass" as full white when you see discrimination and such happening right next to you.

The emotional connections built by the half and half lore were strong and I could tell my story with it.

But now, it's erased.

In a world of magic and strange beings, being a bridge between worlds, is a story to be told with a unique point of view and reasonably, different powers/abilities.

But now, you can only be half anything by way of "reskinning", disingenuous cosplay which erases us in the mixed margins and mainstreams.

I straight up told them I would not be participating in any more of their official private play testing after I got this news. (Yes I have been credited in the front of a few books, no I won't tell you which name)

And their response was "They do exist, reskin!"
