Capitalism Is Business Freedom
Have you ever heard people attack capitalism?
The typical attack verges on the "greedy company" or the "evil corporation" paradigm. Unfortunately, this has nothing at all to do with capitalism.
The fact is that the most simple definition of capitalism is that it is merely the ability of people to trade their goods and services freely with out restrictions from outside parties.
In other words Capitalism = Freedom of business.
But like everything honest and benevolent, the meaning of capitalism has been warped and by whom you may ask?
Of course, like every point of truth, it has been warped by self serving interests.
Attacking Capitalism Is Attacking Freedom
There is no two ways around this, but to attack capitalism is to launch an attack on the freedoms of individuals. After all if the true, uncomplicated definition of capitalism is merely that of people being free to trade, then any attack on that is clearly immoral.
But, everywhere freedom is attacked, so why should capitalism be any different and here's where it gets bad.
If capitalism is the freedom to in fact trade freely, wouldn't any opposition to such freedom be met with ridicule and general disgust?
In a true civilization that respects the Philosophical Zero they would.
But self serving interests don't want you or I to be free. The want to take your freedom and take your rights and use them for their own agenda, their own self serving agenda.
It doesn't matter what the ideology is, whether it is a crazy ideologicy or an extremely well meaning one. Taking the freedom of another person is theft.
No majority, no ideology makes the destruction of freedom right.
Socialism - The Economic Theft Of Freedom
Socialism is the theory that it is morally okay to take from a person without their consent and give what you take to someone YOU or your socialist group deem to worthy.
Therein lies the quandary of socialism; it presupposes that freedom is theirs to take from someone else and that they can justify this by pointing out that others are in need. Unfortunately as is the case in all socialist economies those taking without consent (politicians) also think it is perfectly okay to wet their beak a little and take a share for themselves.
Politicians justify taking your money as tax and then taking a cut for themselves and of course that the money goes to much needed infrastructure.
Unfortunately, if given the choice, many if not most people would either not pay tax or pay considerably less, which shows that voter dissatisfaction with the redistribution of forced tax is at an all time high.
Schools, Hospitals, Roads And Police - We Need Tax For Them.....Don't We?
When the government takes your money, they give themselves a nice cut, indeed politicians make a decent income, far more than the average Joe that they forcibly remove the tax from. Then every dollar is administered with up to 30% of that dollar burned up in administration of said dollar.
In other words barely 70% of the tax you pay gets past first base.
Then instead of being accountable to a bottom line, the money is flagrantly spent, often with little regard for the poor shlubs who earned it in the first place.
Have you ever compared Private schools, hospitals and services to government ones?
The private ones are always superior, the services are always better.
There are a myriad of ways in which schools, hospitals and roads, not to mention government services can be provided without any need for tax.
Imagine if you only paid 10% of the tax you pay right now?
Imagine if all schools were private, but because of the competition, you could easily afford schooling for your children, imagine if all hospitals were private, but you could easily afford it, because competition kept the prices down.
Governments are self serving, inefficient and spend money inappropriately.
Senators offices have tax payer funding $1000 paintings, nasa can order $2000 cakes and politicians can have thousands of dollars of travel paid for, all for meetings that could take place on the telephone.
Tax money is forcibly removed from hard working citizens against the principle of freedom and redistributed by self serving ideologies represented by usurping politicians.
There is a much, much better way.
Capitalism Is Consistent With The Philosophical Zero
Capitalism takes nothing away from someone with out their consent
Check
Capitalism is consistent with freedom and respects freedom by definition
Check
Capitalism delivers competition, which in turn delivers lower prices and better services
Check
Capitalism respects the right of the individual to make informed choices
Check
Now let's apply the checklist to Socialism:
Socialism takes nothing away from someone with out their consent
Fail - Socialism takes away tax money, whether you are happy with the system or not
Socialism is consistent with freedom and respects freedom by definition
Fail - Socialism does not respect your freedom, it assumes to know better than you
Socialism delivers competition, which in turn delivers lower prices and better services
Fail - Socialism doesn't care about price, they can keep taking tax money and provide average service
Socialism respects the right of the individual to make informed choices
Fail - Socialists think they know better than you, they don't respect your individual freedom
Socialism Fails
Eastern block Europe is littered with the pain and the remnants of the destruction that socialism can wreak. There are some countries that maintain a reasonable standard of living with socialism, but they do so solely at the cost of the freedom of their residents.
By and large socialism has failed to deliver prosperity, health and happiness to it's followers.
The critics of capitalism make a very large error. The say it doesn't work and they use the United States Of America as an example.
Almost 50% of American citizen's income is taxed. This means that they are at least 50% socialist.
This tax drains productivity, reduces freedom and robs workers of much needed savings and it delivers average quality health care and moderate level schooling.
All which it's citizens could afford and which would be far superior if they had more of their tax to make decisions with themselves.
Trade and industry are the foundations that built America's standards of living. Free trade of course being the capitalist ideal. Socialist policy robs the investor, the worker and the judicious saver of their free ability to find a better option.
What could be fairer than the freedom of 2 or more people to trade with each other without someone else telling them what to to do like school children, or assuming they are incapable. Such actions are an insult to rational human intelligence and an affront to freedom.
Self serving socialist policy is a slap in the face.
Capitalism is freedom to make your own decisions.
It has nothing to do with greedy business folk. Indeed most businesses are still run by smaller operators and location is still are major factor in many purchase decisions.
In capitalism, businesses give people what they want and they are free to choose. If the people do not like the price, products or services - The business fails.
Socialism keeps unsustainable businesses open by taking your money and throwing it at incompetent businesses.
Capitalism solves problems and gives people what they want.
Socialism takes your money and gives you what the self serving decide is right.
Capitalism by and large rewards the productive. Slavery is illegal, so the harder you work, the more you work - The more money you earn and the more options you have to invest, diversify and buy.
In a socialist society, the productive and hard working are punished. They pay more and more tax as they work longer and harder. The more they earn, the higher the tax they pay. Those who are not productive get money for nothing, at the expense of those who work harder.
No matter how hard socialists try to idealize their "take" on events, the inescapable truth is that socialism is wrong, unfair and an attack on freedom.
But when the premise is that you can sit back and do nothing, but still receive an income from those who work the hardest, then it's obvious how that can appeal to the lazy.
So, we sit at loggerheads - Freedom vs Socialism, Capitalism vs Rewarding Incompetence.
If you believe in freedom then capitalism is your ally.
