Casey scoffed, eating her food and not caring that her mouth was full when she started to reply to him. “I know what a play is, smartass.” Her mom looked over at her, as if to say ‘language, Cassandra’ like she always did when Casey cursed. “Romeo and Juliet is so corny.” She told him, smirking slightly when she realized that he had been glancing up at her every so often.

Adam smirked at her mom griping at her for her choice of words. “While it is corny, it’s actually tolerable. Way better than Hamlet.” Taking another bite of his food, he felt his cheeks heat up. “Stop looking at me.”

Casey rolled her eyes, knowing that she could’ve started without him but also knowing that her mom thought that was rude. She made sure their parents weren’t looking before she quickly gave him the finger, going back to her food but still looking at him. “What were you even doing? Reading your book? Lame.”

As he continued eating his food, he couldn’t help but glance up at her every now and again. If he hadn’t looked up he would’ve missed her ‘sly’ middle finger. “How badass of you, Casey. It’s actually a play for an English project. Just so you know what a play is, it’s a script used for performing on stage.”

Casey hadn’t been excited to have dinner with Adam and their parents, but she did want to see him. So she walked downstairs and sat at the table, waiting for him to fill the space in front of her. She wanted to smile at him when he sat down, but all that came out was a snarky comment. “Finally. You took forever and I’m hungry.” She told him, starting to eat her food.

Adam pursed his lips as he set down the playbook next to his plate, hoping he wouldn’t drop any food on it. “You could’ve started without me, y’know?” he replied, his eyes glancing up at her to see her starting to eat. “With how you’re eating, you’d have me convinced you haven't eaten in years.” He teased, taking a bite of his food before looking up and smirking at her.

“For never was a story of more woe [t]han this of Juliet and her Romeo.” Adam read aloud the introduction of Shakespeare’s famous play, Romeo And Juliet. As he walked down the stairs to sit at the dinner table, his eyes were trained onto the words rather than the space before him.
