What is this blog?

To put it simply, the main blog for smittenshipping week! A place for me to share artwork, writing and anything else people may create, or announce important things like prompts, dates and more!

What is smittenshipping?

Smittenshipping is the name for the ship of Galactic Commander Mars and Galactic Commander Jupiter from Pokemon (diamond, pearl, platinum, brilliant diamond, shining pearl)! Also sometimes referred to as sinfulshipping, however the name smittenshipping is used here as referring to a queer ship as 'sinful' is a little problematic. As this is a rarepair however, I will use both tags to hopefully reach more people.

General Rules?

-I will not be sharing or including anything problematic, including proship. This may seem obvious or like a silly rule, but any romanticised depictions of unhealthy relationships will not be included here. Angst is okay, but I won't share anything gross.

-NSFW will also not be shared here, as I want to keep the blog SFW. I don't mind it being made though!

-Background ships are okay, as long as they follow the other rules (aka not nsfw or proship).

-Please don't make your submissions anti smittenshipping. This is supposed to be a week of appreciation for the ship after all.

-Poly is also okay, if you want to do something with that - e.g. including Saturn or someone else (as long as again, is isn't gross). You can also make it platonic if you'd like! Just make sure smitten is the focus.

- It's okay if things are late, but please wait until the week/day to post things. Don't share it early, as then it isn't really smittenshipping 'week' anymore.

-You don't have to complete every day - feel free to only make one post if you'd like! It's up to you! You also don't have to use the prompts if you don't want to. Be creative!

-This isn't necessarily a rule, but please tag me in your posts! I'd love to see and share them, and I can't guarantee that I will otherwise. If you have the smittenshipping week tags on your post though, I may also see it! I'll certainly try my best to share as much as I can.

-Have fun! Don't stress about perfection or push yourself too hard, breaks are important too!

I have unfortunately been surprisingly busy and so I won't be able to post something every day, but I will be putting out two short, single chapter fics on Ao3 in one work. I'll share each one here as I post them!

Official Week Announcement (and blog announcement!)

Okay okay so, after much thinking over the week that I had the poll up, I’ve made my decision. Smittenshipping week will take place:

May 18th to May 24th! 

I went with this week for a couple of reasons, which I'll explain a little further down, under the cut

I'm mainly planning to use this blog for announcements and stuff about smittenshipping week, BUT I do also want to share any content people make, both to hopefully boost the posts and to fill the blog out more. So please tag me in your posts, because I'd love to see them!

I'm also working on a prompts post, which I'll post closer to the time. I wanna make sure I'm happy with it!

Onto why I went with May though:

The Inspiration - I combined a bunch of info about the planets Mars and Jupiter, which resulted in two options - this one and the April week. May 18th as a start day resulted from this, with me merging some data about each of the two planets together.

Votes - May 18th to May 24th was the second most popular option - beaten only by April. I wanted to go with a popular option which leads into why I didn't go with April

April - I've mentioned this option a lot so far, and I probably would've picked it - but it started to hit me just how busy I'm gonna be that week. So much stuff is happening for me, way more than I realised at first, and it's also only a month away. I wanna be sure that I have enough time to set everything up and make sure I'm happy with it all. As nice as it'd be to have it that soon, I just don't think I can make it work

Mars-Jupiter Conjunction - Someone in the replies to the poll mentioned that there was a conjunction between Mars and Jupiter (the planets) in late May last year - and while the dates don't line up perfectly, it means the week would be right before the 1 year anniversary of that. As I said before, it doesn't line up perfectly - but it definitely influenced my decision a little :)
