Sleeping under a southern chandelier There’s are many ways to physically experience history, but I must say that living in it is certainly one of the most thorough ways. For two nights I was fortunate enough to live in a mansion built during the civil war for a Cotton plantation owner in Charleston, South Carolina. Being able to experience what it was like to live in a house that possesses so much significance in American history(with the exclusion of wifi access) was something to remember. It’s also interesting how seeing the wealth and prosperity generated by the slave era makes you wonder if you should appreciate it or not given that it was all a result of a period of oppression and suffering. A truly unique experience.
