Il metodo era però considerato un inganno e, quindi, qualunque scultura ‘sine cera’ (senza cera) era considerata un'opera d'arte perfetta, pura, autentica. Questa espressione latina coniò, successivamente, il termine ‘sincero’; ancora oggi, a volte, firmiamo le lettere con ‘sinceramente’ per assicurare all'altra persona che il contenuto del messaggio sia vero, schietto, non contraffatto, appunto ‘sine cera’. Ho pensato a quanto impegno mettiamo, ogni giorno, nel riempirci di cera davanti a chi amiamo, per la paura che, sfregiati, non saremmo amati per quelli che siamo davvero. Quante volte restiamo lì, a fissare il soffitto, a guardare fuori dal finestrino di un autobus, un panorama, un tramonto, con un solo, unico pensiero: «C’è qualcuno disposto a stringere queste mie mani, i suoi graffi, la pelle ruvida, ‘sine cera’?».
