I know we already saw Crowley and Aziraphale in the first decade of the 1600s but it's bonfire night and I'm in the mood. Crowley and Aziraphale getting all wrapped up in the Gunpowder plot has so much potential.
Azirpahle is all in a tiz about the radical Catholics' actions and then finds out that Heaven doesn't really care what they're doing. (a mirror to the Job minisode)
Crowley is probably pretty into blowing up Parliament but also not so keen on the thought of Henry being in attendance or the plan to kidnap Elizabeth because Crowley's got a thing about looking after the kids.
Azirpahle is trying to stop the assassination attempt on King James I only for Francis Tresham to go ahead and ruin the plot anyway before Azirphale can even do anything.
Bonus points if we then see them 35 years later during the Civil War. I think it would be very in character for Crowley to refuse to pick a side. Sure he probably likes the idea of a permanent way more than a monarchy but the whole Puritan 'not allowed any fun' regime isn't his cup of tea.
We all know that Crowley would be pretty pissed at Cromwell for banning all the fun stuff but he's a demon so he just does them all anyway. Then Azirphale is in a huff that he's not allowed to go to the theatre. (especially after seeing them around the globe at the start of the century)
