DRAMARAMA IS BACK! — A small apology for the sudden disappearance.

As of late January, the Tumblr account under the username @/smoshtwtdrama was unexpectedly deactivated without explanation. After an extended period of challenges and disruptions, we have now returned. We sincerely apologize for our absence during various SmoshTWT-related events. To those who have remained with us and patiently awaited updates, we are truly grateful for your understanding and continued support. We would also like to inform our followers of several new rules moving forward to maintain clarity and respect within the community: 1. Any messages containing hate will result in an immediate block. 2. Individuals found submitting false information will be given a warning. Repeated offenses, especially those coupled with hateful speech, will also lead to a block.

3. We do not claim to provide definitive accounts of events. Our posts are based solely on our understanding of the situations discussed within the Smoshblr community.

4. We will ensure accuracy and clarity in our reports before publishing them. 5. We’ve been receiving a large number of Anonymous Messages regarding the ongoing situation between Damien Haas and Chelsea Leonhart (Plvntfvce). Many of these questions have shared similar concerns, and we want to take a moment to respond collectively.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to release any content or commentary about the matter. While Damien has been a part of Smosh for nearly a decade, this situation is personal and unrelated to Smosh. As such, it falls outside the scope of what we cover here at Dramarama.

We understand and empathize with the desire for updates—our team has felt the same. In fact, we initially began researching a documentary on the topic. Unfortunately, the sources we had access to were either unreliable or incomplete, making it impossible to present an accurate and responsible report.

Our team held extensive internal discussions and ultimately agreed not to move forward with any coverage at this time. While this decision may feel like a missed opportunity, we stand by it, and we appreciate your understanding.

when the right timing comes and the sources are credible and thorough information emerge in the future, we will revisit the possibility of sharing updates.

With the ongoing discussion surrounding Noah Grossman's recent comments in the Spud Hut episode, we’re taking time to respond to two anonymous messages regarding the situation.

Anonymous Submission #1:

"I'm gonna be so real, I thought in the episode that comment was a joking reference to the Greek poet and originator of the terms sapphic and lesbian, Sappho from Lesbos. Yes her name is Sappho and yes she's from an actual real island called Lesbos. I've never heard it referred to as a derogatory term, but I have read and heard about Sappho and the island she came from. Like, I'm not trying to be flippant or meme on this situation, I'm just saying this was my full train of thought"

Our Response:

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Within our team, there was a range of interpretations regarding Noah Grossman's use of the term "Lesbos" in reference to the two sapphic characters. Some believed he was alluding to the island of Lesbos, while others felt it may have been an inappropriate use of a slur.

We reviewed the episode footage—thanks to a Twitter user who shared the original clip before it was edited out by Smosh—and observed that the pronunciation used (“les-bow”) more closely resembles the slur than the geographical name (“les-boss”). While we cannot definitively say what Noah or Smosh intended, the decision to cut the scene suggests a desire to avoid further discourse, which in itself raises concern.

"regarding the noah thing: non lesbians respectfully need to shut up. i have seen wayyyyyy too many people try and downplay or fully dismiss what he said while not being lesbians. i am a lesbian. while lesbo might not be as impactful as the d slur, its still not something a nonlesbian, especially a cishet Man, should be calling lesbian/sapphic characters regardless of it being a dumb improv show or not. just bc ppl are queer does not give them the right to speak over actual lesbians who were hurt by this. the word has never had positive connotation and he had no need to say it. people need to stop excusing his ignorance and letting him and smosh as a whole sweep this kinda thing under the rug and avoid accountability."

Your perspective is absolutely valid, and we appreciate you sharing it. These types of discussions highlight how varied audience reactions can be, especially in situations that touch upon the lived experiences of marginalized communities. It is vital to acknowledge and respect the feelings of those who have fought for visibility and acceptance within the LGBTQIA+ community. Regardless of Noah Grossman's intent, the use of such language was inappropriate and should not have occurred.

We hope that Smosh is taking this incident seriously and is implementing measures to ensure greater sensitivity and awareness in future productions. Moreover, it is disheartening to see sapphic viewers being invalidated or attacked for expressing their concerns. Disrespecting those who are directly affected only exacerbates the issue and silences voices that deserve to be heard.

"I just want to say, about the cut Spud Hut moment from the most recent episode—while 'lesbo' is pretty rude and insensitive, it’s not a slur... It’s being blown way out of proportion. Besides, he’s playing a character—get a grip."

Our team has researched the term "lesbo," which is widely regarded as a slur or derogatory term used to describe lesbians. Historically, it has been employed to demean, sexualize, or stereotype women who love women—particularly in media portrayals. While some within the LGBTQ+ community may reclaim the term in self-referential or humorous contexts, this usage does not negate its harmful connotations when used inappropriately.

In this instance, Noah Grossman referred to two sapphic characters—portrayed by Amanda Lehan-Canto and Angela Giarratana—as “lesbos.” This usage is disrespectful to sapphic fans and should not have been permitted. Although Noah was playing a character, it’s important to note that Spud Hut episodes are entirely improvised, as confirmed by Smosh. Therefore, the decision to use that word was unscripted and personally made, which makes the situation more concerning.

“So, as people have pointed out—Noah said something in Spud Hut that’s considered a slur against lesbians. HOWEVER... I genuinely didn’t know that word was a slur. I’ve heard it used by a lot of people, and not always in a negative way.

If it wasn’t cut from the video originally, that might be because the editors didn’t recognize it as a slur either. (Smosh hire more lesbians challenge?)

I obviously know the major slurs, but this shows that some terms aren’t as widely recognized, and maybe Noah didn’t know either? (Not defending him, just acknowledging the possibility.)

Our Response:

And let’s be real—people have every right to be upset. But I also think part of the backlash is because Noah is already a controversial figure. If Ian or someone else had said it, I feel like people would’ve just laughed it off.”

You raise valid points about how language can be nuanced and how not everyone may recognize certain terms as slurs, particularly when they've heard them used casually or without malicious intent. Language evolves and circulates in different communities, and some terms don’t immediately register as offensive to everyone.

That said, “lesbo” has a long-standing history of being used in derogatory and objectifying ways. Even if someone is unaware of its connotations, the impact on those who are hurt by it remains significant—especially when the term is used publicly by someone outside the affected community. Intent does matter, but so does being willing to listen and learn when harm is pointed out.

Regarding the backlash, you may be right that perceptions of a person can influence public response. However, that doesn’t invalidate the criticism itself. This situation underlines the importance of greater sensitivity and awareness—particularly from public figures and editorial teams responsible for what makes it to air.

A smosh fan once again invading a smosh cast member’s personal life by posting graduation photos on tiktok! View to Read:

On April 26, 2025, a TikTok user known by the handle @/angelasssporkie, who identifies as a fan of the Smosh —A YouTube Channel— published a slideshow-style video featuring a series of graduation photos of Angela Giarratana. The post was captioned “Angela’s Beautiful Graduation” and included several personal images, such as photos of Angela with her parents, friends, and other close acquaintances. These images appear to have been originally taken in the early 2010s and were likely meant for personal or family sharing. Since its upload, the TikTok video has gained considerable attention, garnering approximately 61,000 views, 8,086 likes, and 519 saves. The comments section was filled with admiration and affectionate remarks, with many users complimenting Angela’s appearance and celebrating her milestone. However, alongside these positive reactions, a number of users from the Smosh Twitter community (commonly referred to as "SmoshTwt") voiced their discomfort and concern regarding the post. These individuals raised an important issue about privacy, stating that sharing personal images of public figures—especially without their knowledge or consent—should not be normalized or encouraged, regardless of the poster’s intentions or admiration for the individual. It is crucial to recognize that public figures, including cast members of online content groups like Smosh, are entitled to personal boundaries and privacy. “Damien shouldn’t be trusted, he shouldn’t stand near Angela!” — a parasocial drama in the smoshtwt community! Here’s why:

Around late April 2025, specifically on April 23rd, three prominent Twitter accounts within the Smosh fan community (each with a large following) publicly shared their opinions regarding the relationship between Angela Giarratana and Damien Haas. For privacy, their usernames will not be referenced; instead, they will be referred to as (1), (2), and (3). User (1) initiated the discussion with a tweet stating: "for the record I do not think damien wants to be with angela like that. What I do think is that he wants to be good buds with her the way Courtney/amanda/etc are and that’s why he mentions her a bunch outside of smosh videos too but diva it's not working." followed by a broken heart emoji.

This tweet generated considerable attention, with many followers responding—some interpreting it as sarcasm, while others criticized the poster for being overly parasocial. The original poster did not engage with the replies and muted the notifications instead. User (2), who is known for engaging with the “Damangela” pairing, posted: "that ~4 day span a few months ago when I tried to force myself to enjoy damangela purely out of spite for how mean everyone was being. Until I had to give up and succumb to the reality that damangela truly makes me feel like the walls are closing in around me I don’t know why” accompanied by crying emojis. User (1) responded: "the way I’m kind of the opposite now where I used to just clown on them but now I feel like a beaten-down researcher trying to desperately understand this phenomenon. Like what are you seeing that I don’t I feel like I’m being gaslit.” To which (2) replied: "see on an intellectual level I understand what people are seeing I just don’t understand how they aren’t also experiencing the dark sinister air around it. Like how does one derive positive emotions from whatever that is.” (1) then added: “I’m at the point where I’m like yeah they’re work friends and it sure looks like damien wants to be even more close with her but also how do you also not feel like the room is getting darker” These tweets began to receive wider attention, with others questioning the language used: “What do you mean the room is getting darker?” and “Dark sinister air? They’re just friendly coworkers.” sharing their confusions with the two users public discussion about the relationship. User (3) entered the conversation by replying to (2): "angela moving away from the duet in the karaoke stream really tickled my brain”

(2) responded: “that was literally the moment that made me give up I’m fucking crying” This was accompanied by a clip from a karaoke stream where Damien joins in on a duet. Angela then appears to distance herself, calling Amanda and Spencer back to the camera. (2) commented further: “genuinely I could throw up out of embarrassment it’s so… I should not have been privy to this moment.” (3) replied: “I’m pretty sure damangelas have this blocked from their memories and I don’t blame them lmfao.” At this point, the discourse took an inappropriate turn. The language used—phrases like “dark sinister” and “the room is getting darker”—to describe normal interactions between two coworkers, Damien and Angela, is disrespectful and speculative. Such comments imply that Damien's presence or behavior makes Angela uncomfortable or unsafe, which is an unfounded and harmful assumption. It is important to recognize that these individuals are real people, and making such exaggerated or parasocial claims about their friendship or professional relationship is deeply inappropriate. Over time, however, the Smoshtwt community's attitude toward the ship shifted from disinterest to overt hostility.
