Joe Zito - Lennon, Weinberg With Damon Brandt (Errare Humanum Est, Perserverare Diabolicum), 2018 Brass, gouache, wood, steel, 22 ½ x 22 x 13 ¾ inches The latin title for the piece is a quote from the 1st century philosopher Seneca, which when translated reads: “ To Err is Human, To Persist in it is Diabolical”. This is a direct challenge to the international companies that continue to produce chemical agents that are destroying the earth’s flora and fauna. Inside of the hive, a model of a bee has been custom-designed and built as a puzzle of delicate parts. Common bee yellow has been replaced by alarm code red,  indicating a clear and present danger from the chemicals that surround the bee colonies both inside and outside of the hive.
