Sakurai About Wakatsuki
#Sakurai-san, what does Wakatsuki-san’s presence means to you?
Sakurai : An important presence. why…When there’s Wakatsuki, I feel safe. Because I feel safe, it must be that I like her. That’s what I always feel.
# You call each other “aikata” (note : it means “partner”)
Sakurai : She’s different from other members. She’s neither member nor friend. Also not family. She’s a bit more special existence.
# Her existence is different from other members?
Sakurai : Her existence, rather than being “member”, we’ve became closer than that..
# To that extent, you talk everything to her?
Sakurai : Yes. A lot.
# Since when the distance between two of you became closer than you can talk about everything to her?
Sakurai : We’ve been close from beginning. But, since Wakatsuki entered senbatsu in 3rd single “Hashire, Bicycle”, the amount of time that we spent together were increasing and we became close. During the period of 4th single “Seifuku no Mannequin” we became more closer and I felt that our relationship was changed. The quantity of time we spent together was more intense and the quality was increasing.
# After Wakatsuki entered senbatsu, was it easy for you to consult her about the group and members?
Sakurai : That’s right. Every single member has their own strength.
Sakurai : Yes. I had good relationship other members, but Wakatsuki was also get along very well with her hometown friends. It was easier to have deep conversation with that kind of person (hometown friends) than me. We talked to each other things that made us worry, we help each other a lot.
# So, because you got help from a member like Wakatsuki-san, you can be the current Captain Sakurai
Sakurai : That’s right. She’s good in managing other members and also to consult with. I feel we share the role pretty often.
# Other members have their own thinking like “I can do this, let’s do it” or “I’m good at this, I’ll take the initiative”. That’s not because Sakurai-san is an unreliable, but because you to arrange those puzzle pieces.I think that’s really Nogizaka46’s type.
Sakurai : Really? Nogizaka46-type. Because I’m supported by other members, I can be what I’m today. With that, we can completed what we did.
# Now, Wakatsuki is entering hachifukujin. What’s the biggest change after she entered hachifukujin?
Sakurai : During interview like this, Wakatsuki really put her great effort. The way she explaining things is unique. She always surprises me with something that out of my way of thinking. She said “There’s such thing like this” pretty often. She can pull out that side of her, that’s a point plus. I think it also a point plus for Nogizaka.
# I see. Your relationship with Wakatsuki, do you think that it will continue like this forever and never changed?
Sakurai : I hope it will continue like this (LOL). Un, definitely won’t ever changed..

# What does Sakurai-san’s presence means to Wakatsuki-san?
Wakatsuki : What is it? Rather than about Nogizaka46, maybe, she’s a great partner in my life. In Nogizaka, we call each other “aikata”. She’s different from other members and friends. She’s farther than a family, but her presence is closer than family. She’s not my family, but you can say that she’s my family. Thinking about this, her existence for me is kinda unique (LOL)
# I see
Wakatsuki : When I look at my surrounding, maybe you can call her a “friend”. But, her presence can’t be describe with such word.
# Now, you entered hachifukujin, is there any changing within yourself?
Wakatsuki : Hachifukujin ia s spot that I had been longing for, a place that I admire, and also that I’m afraid of. I’m happy that I be able to grabbed that place. But, I must not be satisfied with this. For the next step, I’m aiming for something higher. I want to get closer to the regular members of hachifukujin. I feel that’s a change that happen within myself.
# Entering hachifukujin, you got the chance to be next to Sakurai-san’s side. Do you think that you’ll be able to help her more than ever?
Wakatsuki : Yes. Undergirls and senbatsu. Being in senbatsu, in hachifukujin or 8 memers in the back row. I feel that I’ve seen this world in a little bit different way. When I was in Undergirls or in the senbatsu’s back row, I thought that I want to help Reika. To help Reika, in the same point of view as Reika’s, I wanted to understand what she looked at and what she felt. That’s why, I feel that I’ll help Reika more in the future.
# Of course, because you didn’t stand at the same place with her, there’s something that you didn’t understand
Wakatsuki : Yes. Captain listens to other member’s worry, but she can’t tell her worry to other people. That’s why I want to listen to her. Just listening to what she said, I couldn’t interfere to Reika’s job that I couldn’t understand. I think that thing will be changed.
# Lastly, your relationship with Reika, do you think it will continue like this?
Wakatsuki : I hope it will never changed. I feel that it won’t changed.
