after college i swore i'd never shop there again, but i broke my rule when they came out with jeggings. and as of late, i've been very impressed with their footwear.

my requirements for gladiator sandals:

easy to slip on {one- or no-handed}.

back-zipper entry.

must cover most of my skin.

i would have ordered these ($49.50) already if the front strap was not brown...i love mixing brown and black but i already purchased new brown sandals this year and am in need a pair of all-black. but one of YOU should definitely buy them!

a bump in the road.

my search for style has been on quite a journey in the past year--first learning to dress a bump (it's been almost a year since i found out i was pregnant!) and now learning to dress my after-baby body.

honestly, in the past few weeks i have had a heck of a time putting together an outfit i'm proud of. (the one above was stolen from sydney.)

i've read that three months after you have a baby (which is NOW for me), you start to redefine your style.

i didn't think it would happen to me.

but i can't count the number of times in the past few weeks that i've wanted to throw out most of my clothes and start over.

it doesn't help that spring/summer are difficult seasons for me to dress for anyway.

it's getting so bad that last weekend i wasn't sure we were going to get out of the house on time for rooney's baptism until eric swooped in and picked out my outfit for me (i ended up wearing a repeat of this).

there are just too many things in that closet.

i'm thinking i need to do a big cleanout/sale soon and then be a lot more intentional going forward.

but i've said that before...

i got this email a couple weeks ago and wanted to share it with you. names were NOT changed to protect the innocent :)

Q. So, the girls are kidnapping me on Sat. for my B-Day outing (Big 5-OHHHHH) I inquired about what I should wear, Kathy's response.....Snappy Casual. Now where do you think she got that? And..... so what do I wear?????

A. Hi! I love this! First, the most important thing is that you're comfortable! That's the casual part. Whatever it is that makes you feel good and still comfortable--for me it's my jeggings, but for you it might be a favorite pair of jeans or a skirt or a t-shirt or broken-in sandals. And then also try to wear something that's a little unexpected and fun--a hat, headband, hair clip, big necklace, special purse or shoes, etc. Something you don't wear every day but that's a bright color or has special detail or makes you feel fabulous and stand out a bit. It IS your birthday after all!

good things come in hues

feeling quite honored to be featured along with jessica alba and kourtney kardashian in soon maternity's latest campaign for colored maternity pants, and kind of missing that baby bump...

a real look at my recent outfits.

i know it's been pretty quiet over here since rooney was born.

and it makes me kind of sad.

but half of my days look like this, with me in leggings, a sweatshirt and ugly socks:

you can tell by roo's face that even she knows they are ugly.

remember a few months ago when i said i wanted to look like a fabulous mom? well, some days i just don't have the energy. and i don't want to post tons of cute outfits to make you think that i do.

just keepin' in real over here.

i do get dressed every other day (because that's how often i shower)...but considering that my time with eric right now is limited, outfit photo shoots don't typically happen. especially considering that i'd then have to find the time to upload and edit the photos.

not gonna happen.

but i do have a few shots from the past couple weeks, taken with my phone. because i couldn't let these outfits pass without documentation.

it's not uncommon that i place an online order the same day i get paid. i can't wait to get this top! (and it was free shipping!)

                          please tell me: where can i get more casual summer tops? i only have like 8 shirts that are appropriate for summer weather. most of my clothing budget gets spent in the fall...but i'm determined to change that!

did you know that the carter's brand has been around since 1865? i had no idea. rooney is wearing a vintage carter's sleeper that i used to wear when i was a baby. look at those puffy sleeves! haha. the details are really amazing on it. i love it!
