also i realised that this is a good time to study lighting, considering that i'll only have to think in values for these black n white scenes

if you saw me post earlier, no you didnt! decided to put these two wips together as part of krita exploration and colouring experimentation. got hung up over that song as you can see and speedran both of these in about 3 days because... yeah. little explanation under the cut if you wanna get 100% of the vision + the ref for vincent

first of all, HAVE YOU LISTENED TO THE SONG oh my days the chorus describes vincent so well/ i could imagine him embodying. like, here's a few lines that highkey stood out :

- dont you know who i am? remember my name (would go on his vogue cover if he actually had one ngl)

- im gonna live forever

- people will see me and cry

- im gonna make it to heaven (do i even have to explain)

naturally, i decided to show his little career ladder/progression thing he's got going on, little wooden dolls wearing the suits he used to wear in brighter. ofc they're all facing him because he's narcissistic like that. personally think i could make the words bigger n brighter (ha.) like the neon signs in his little mv! but oh well. i mainly wanted to focus on the idea of him climbing his way to the top because he's obsessed with being better and is never gonna be content with his current level of popularity and fame

he's supposed to be playing with that one figure all the way to the left but oh well

should i continue colouring this damn thing? perhaps. will i even attempt rendering? no... do i enjoy making doodoo pieces that are too complicated for my current skill set? mosttt definitely

Radio's darling! first time colouring, and i hate it. rendering this sounds like a nightmare, but in time, i suppose.

i watched like... a few videos on how to colour, and obviously i didnt execute that very well. but there's a first time for everything! just laid down the flat colours for now

gang im working on storyboards for vincent n al in which they're both freaks for each other

was listening to he's my man on loop and i hallucinated a whole plot point. i've never tried animation before, hence why i've just been sketching some frames for now. i'd say a 3 minute and 53 second long animatic is a pretty bold first endeavour, but i think i'll get the bare minimum (camera angles, figures, mayhaps bg) vaguely done by tmr
