it’s no secret, really, that seungjae spent most of his time doting on his nephew. he’d always had a soft spot for the younger boy, and was willing to do anything to see him smiling. some would call taeho seungjae’s kryptonite and in all honesty, seungjae would agree. though as much as he’d love to give taeho the world, it wasn’t as though seungjae came from a place where he could drown the boy in material possessions. for what he couldn’t give to taeho in toys and gadgets, he attempted to make up for with more time spent playing together.
he’d spent most of his days like this ( though a part of him wished he could spend his days like this, always ) –– running around the park as he entertained his nephew with simple games like tag or hide and seek.
“it’s my turn to hide and your turn to seek! close your eyes and count to ten!” taeho announced, chubby fingers tugging at the hem of seungjae’s shirt. that sight alone, was enough to have his heart melt. he did as the younger boy instructed and covered his eyes with both his hands as he counted down. though of course, he kept his fingers slightly apart in order to peek through them and keep an eye on taeho, just to make sure that he wasn’t wandering off too far.
as soon as he was done counting, he followed the younger boy, only to realize that oh –– he’d hid behind a stranger that neither of them have met before. seungjae’s eyes had widened and gently he reached out his hand as he called taeho over. “hi! we were playing hide and seek and my nephew must’ve thought this was a good place to hide,” he explained, his own cheeks heating up due to how flustered he’d felt. “i’m sorry, he tends to get really distracted by girls! taeho, you shouldn’t do that!” he turned to look at his nephew, still gesturing for him to come by his side. “are you alright? i hope he didn’t surprise you!”
