This isn't really much of an actual complaint and more just something I want to talk about

But being around alot of kidcore and nostalgia core spaces has made me realise that so much of it is rooted in traditionally feminine childhood, obviously I know the reason why, women and queer people and ect are way more likely to get involved in Internet esthetics then cishet men are but it is still really interesting to me

Boys toys (as it toys marked towards boys I do not personally believe that there is such a thing as "boys" or "girls" toys) are now collectables, they're being resold at massive prices for men who are now grown to buy back again, buy none of this stuff is ever considered "kidcore" or "nostalgiacore" or "healing their inner child" but when an adult woman buy old dolls or plushies it all of a sudden is

Kidcore is care bears and my little pony instead of g.i. joe and masters of the universe, and it does in some way suck that the toys I grew up with and enjoyed playing with as an at the time tomboy who'd never touch a doll with a 10ft poll and with at the time 4 brothers are almost never represented in an esthetic reselling peoples childhoods back at them

My hotwheels, my nerf guns, my action figures and weird little gross out toys its nearly nowhere to be seen

And like I'm not saying that it's hard to be a masculine women in kidcore spaces, I love these spaces and I wouldn't change them for the world, I just get a little sad that my childhood isn't really represented in the esthetic and instead are relegated to the collector bros and people who get mad that reboots of their favourite childhood cartoons are too woke
