I won, by the way

So, this has been a MONTH, and the thing that got lost was definately....updating tumblr. 

Heh Ooops ANYWAY, Over the course of 12 stories, 10 of which are posted for the SW rares exchange (the other two are incomplete and speculative, we shall see what they become) I wrote...

That’s a lot of words, considering I also edited and posted ten of the fics! I am TIRED.

Mostly, I guess we’re a few minutes into day 11.

Ten days in and almost halfway there! Feeling halfway decent about that one, folks. :D

Okay, shh, it’s a day late, but yesterday I was at 18945!

That also marked finishing the second full story written this month! Hurrah!

So here’s what I’m learning! It’s hard to full-time job, write fic, and talk about writing fic. 

But! I am writing!!

Day 3 and 4

Ooops. 

So, day 3 I actually wrote a TON but I didn’t remember to update word count. 

And today I had an INTENSELY busy day, wrote very little, but still wrote something!

4,469 words total!

So, this month is interesting, because I'm doing nano as a series of treats for the @swrarepairs fic exchange, rather than as one large story.

Today I wrote a treat! And started another :D

Have a snippit from the fic I finished today, carefully selected to not give the pairing away:

Oh, that was not the issue. That was not even remotely close to the issue.

Day 30: I WON

Okay, to be fair, I actually won last Saturday. But between family and Thanksgiving I just…didn’t get around to posting about it. Sorry for that. BUT!

Bodhi’s worries would no doubt return, but they could wait until the morning. In this shining moment, he was content. Happy. He belonged.

Day in Review:

Words today: 1,122

Best thing from today’s writing: I wrote a ficlet! It’s terribly unedited, but it exists and I like it!  

Worst thing from today’s writing: Today was just not a great day. But I still made something and I’m proud of myself. On to tomorrow.

Day in Review:

Words today: 1,936

Best thing from today’s writing: I’m starting to get that “plot is picking up” surge of energy. 

Worst thing from today’s writing: Two characters decided that their sobbing catharsis was even more important than the plot picking up. Fine. Fiiiiiine. Let’s see how this goes. 

Excerpt:

Galen was silent, violent weeping only heard in ragged gasps. Lyra’s own silent tears collected behind her eyes, as she remembered too many nights where she had fallen apart soundlessly, desperate not to wake Jyn up. Desperate not to give away their position to any listening ears. Desperate to turn herself into something harder than she was, something hard enough that there was a chance she could stay alive.

NaNoWriMo Day 13

Day in Review:

Words today: 983 (not great but there are Extenuating Circumstances)

Best thing from today’s writing: Two characters are becoming Best Friends and I did not see that coming. Their friendship is a delight to write. 

Worst thing from today’s writing: Not a lot of words. But honestly, that’s okay because I MADE CROISSANTS!  They are flaky and delicious and an excellent reminder that not all creative endeavors need to go on hold because of NaNo.

Day in Review:

Words today: 3,499 (Well, that makes up from yesterday)

Best thing from today’s writing: @misskatieleigh introduced me to a group of people that were running word sprints, and MAN, was it good and productive to get to write with other people.

Worst thing from today’s writing: I am seized by the realization that I still have So. Much. Story. Left.  It doesn’t matter if I get to 50k. There is still soooo much more story.

“Fucking politics. So we won’t have any official approval.” REDACTED sprawled back in the bed, scratching at the dark hair on his chest.

“No.” Bodhi curled up, putting his head on his knees. “It’s risky and it’s unsanctioned.”

Day in Review:

Words today: 943 (Ouch)

Worst thing from today’s writing: Welp, today is the sort of day that the buffer was built for. I was insanely busy up until 8pm, and rather unmotivated after that.

Best thing from today’s writing: I let myself take a break and switch to outlining. AND IT WORKED! The outline goes out to the end of the fic, I’ve got the POVs for different scenes sorted...feels pretty good. 

Excerpt: “Remember,” Lyra said, turning to Bodhi with a bright smile that was almost certainly false, “this is not your problem.”

Day in Review:

Words today: 2,735 (cheating, a bit, as I updated at 12:03am)  Best thing from today’s writing: The *reason* I updated at 12:03 was because I was DETERMINED to pass 25k today. AND I DID! HALFWAY THERE!

Worst thing from today’s writing: Felt kinda lonely today. I’m not really attending write-ins this year, and I miss having people to talk to about these things. Chat friends help. :)

Day in review:

Words today: 1,725 Best thing from today’s writing: Edited (I know, I shouldn’t but I have a decent buffer) the part I hated yesterday, and I’ve got the character voice much better now)

Worst thing from today’s writing: I’m pretty sure I sleep-typed.

Anyway, I woke up from dozing to find the phrase “We can not afford to alienate” typed on my document. I have no memory of typing this. Sadly, it did not work with the story.
